Hi there
I've been reading these posts for the last couple of months, basically just using the search thing to find all the info I needed but so far no one has really answered this question directly enough for me...
I am 22, 5'11" and weigh about 167 lbs. I'm trying to get to the "Ryan Reynolds" physique ie. toned and defined but not overly massive. I'm currently going to the gym between 2 and 3 times a week doing free weights and a half hour of either biking or running (I prefer running but I get tired very quickly). My main cause for concern is my stomach at the moment as I have a fairly big spare tire as well as a bit of fat on my chest but none in between, which I find kinda weird.
Anyways, from what I've read you shouldn't go on creatine if you're trying to lose body fat... BUT the only real way to lose body fat (apart from cardio) is to increase your basal metabolism ie. increase your muscle mass THUS wouldn't going on creatine and gaining more muscle mass in turn burn more calories and thus burn more fat than you normally would? Also, wouldn't the increase in stamina from creatine mean I could effectively run for longer periods of time, thus burning even more fat? Please let me know if I have this completely backward.
Also on another note, I find that if I push out my stomach in a certain way the top of my abs are fine but the whole spare tire area feels like there is a huge muscle underneath it, running from side to side. I'll take a picture for anyone that doesn't know what I mean, but is it possible to exercise your abs in order to get them tighter and flatter and not bigger? Especially around this area as this is what I need to work on.
Thanks guys for all the information so far.
