hey everyone!
i just finished my first year of college, and let me tell you, the freshman fifteen is no joke. At 5 ft tall, I began college at a healthy weight of 130lbs, and came home middle of june at 160lbs. 30lbs in one year is no good. With the excitement of being on my own for the first time, and the stress of college, I never set aside any time to exercise, and I would binge eat whenever I got too stressed. I also felt the worst I've ever felt. I couldn't do basic activities like I used to. However, the weight gain motivated me to make major changes in the way I live, changes that I plan on sticking to for the rest of my life.
It began when I got home. I enrolled in MWF boot camp at my local ymca, and I jog/walk two miles, then work on the machines at the gym on Tues, Thurs, and Sunday. The exercise is definitely a rude awakening for my body, but I feel great. I also cut down on all of my over eating, and make it a point to make sure that mostly everything that goes into my body is healthy. It's a major difference than chowing down on anything and everything that looks remotely edible at the dining hall at school. I feel as though I've cut back a lot.
However, here I am, rounding off week 3, and though I feel ten times better and I have more energy (and a rocking tan, to boot!), I measured and weighed myself and noticed that there's no change. I've lost like, 2-3 lbs, which fluctuates from day to day, and I haven't lost any inches anywhere. I know I shouldn't expect too much, but I thought that maybe I would have lost at least 5 or 6lbs, and maybe an inch or even a half an inch somewhere. It's a disheartening start.
So basically, keeping up my same eating habits and exercise plan, I'm just wondering how long you think it will take for me to have any noticeable differences, whether with weight or measurements? I was obviously wrong at expecting even a small difference at 3 weeks, so i'd really like your input.
Thanks!
