Hello everyone!
I am a 20 year old female, 5'6, weighing in at just under 220 lbs. I am no stranger to exercise, for I lost 65 lbs 2 years ago and reveled in the positive changes in my body and health. However, I have since gained all the weight back and have not exercised constistently in a LONG time. All my physical fitness has deteriorated, not to mention I also have high blood pressure from the weight gain.
I am finally ready to lose the weight again!
In the past 3 months I have made great changes to my diet. It could be better, but it's certainly drastically better than it was before, and I am trying to continue improving.
Now comes the all too important exercise part!
I am very out of shape now.
My fiance bought me the Gazelle Edge for Christmas, but from the few times I've used it it did not get my heart rate up much at all, and it feels kind of clunky. I will continue playing around with it and using it regardless. I know it's not enough of a work out by itself for weight loss...which brings me to my question (finally!!)...
I have a beginners pilates DVD (Pick Your Spot Crunch Workout) that is 30 minutes long. I have always enjoyed it and it is certainly a challenge for me (especially now that I'm more out of shape), so is this enough? At least for now?
I've been racking my brain trying to think of workouts I will actually do while I am in the beginner's stage. I've got no money for a gym membership and feel too self-conscience to walk/jog outside right now. So is the pilates DVD enough? Should I see improvements considering it's not considered cardio?
I'm looking for any advice or tips you may have about this. Thank you so much for reading all of this, and I look forward to your responses!
