Question for the LADIES Re: Menstruation

So, this may seem weird but I'm expecting my period sometime in the next week. With my birth control I go for three months without getting my period. I know this differs for different women, but I'm curious what I should be expecting in my weight during this time. I haven't ever kept track of my weight on a weekly basis before so this is going to be new to me. :blush5:

I guess I just want to know what to expect during that time so I can prepare myself- especially if I should be noticing a gain on the scale.

Thanks!!

It just depends on if you retain water and get bloated during your period. Sometimes I'll gain a few pounds, sometimes I'll just stay about even until it's over- then I suddenly lose a few lbs in a day! I just wouldn't worry about your weight during that time- period (haha). Whatever happens is normal for you, and as long as you stick to your diet and exercise, you'll keep losing.

I generally see very low weights before and then they level off during or go up by a pound or two, then back down afterwards.

*sigh* How I HATE Aunt Flow's monthly visits! Grrrr...:cuss: I can always count on being up between 3-5 lbs from a couple of days B4 to right up until near the end of my week. In my opinion, it is total :icon_bs:!!!!

Hey all!

Same for me, usually lower leading up to and then levels off. Probably has to do with not having very much of an appetite before, and then wanting chocolate durring!

- Question: How do I get one of those weight trackers?! This is my first time on the site, I am clueless as to how it all works really.

Hello there... I was stoked when I was down lower than "I should have been" and then I remembered that that may happen before my period! lmao.

We'll see... I know I feel bloated so I'm avoiding the scale until this blows over...

Auntie: what weight tracker are you referring to? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. :)

OOoooh...s;ljd DUH.

I thought she was talking about a scale that would track your weight... and tell you how much weight was from water. lol. Sorry. Blonde moment.

Lol!

Thanks ladies!

It's all worked out.

Michelley:I wouldn't worry too much about a slight flux in weight durring your cycle. Everyone is different, and your body knows what to do! Just stick to your plan, then weigh yourself when your period is over to be accurate.

that time of the month for me too =(

to be honest, it's not so much the scale i mind, i always gain weight the day before or two.. but the fact I cant keep to diet cuz i cant exercise. I become a slouchy potato and dont eat less either..

Mine came back after 6 months of not being there (and a 10lb weight loss). And it came back with a vengeance! Heavy bleeding for 5 days that sent me to the ER (I was freaked out). They sent me home after all my labs came back normal and suggested I see my OBGYN for further tests. Saw the OBGYN and she diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and suggested I go on birth control pills to help with the hormone imbalance. Too bad my blood pressure was too high for them to prescribe the birth control pills. So the OBGYN sent me to a clinic to get my blood pressure in check, so that's what I am working on now.

I did notice I was feeling sluggish during my period. I continued to eat healthy, but didn't exercise the whole week. Of course the mind numbing cramps kept me on the couch all week too :(

Right before my period, I dip...then bounce up by a couple of pounds, those couple of pounds hang around for a couple of days, then they come off. No biggie. Happens every month.

i have been on my diet for a month now. i have changed everything from eating healthy to acually exercising. the problem is. i am late.. have not gotten it. and i highly doubt that i am pregnant..lol i feel like i am getting it but nothing. i should have gotten it last week or so. so could changing everthing so sudden like i did have any effect on my period???

Possibly. If you've started birth control recently or certain medications, it could affect your cycles. If you think there's ANY chance you might be pregnant and you haven't gotten it by the end of the week, go ahead and pee on a stick just to put your mind at ease (or not).

I found that my rapid weight loss in the latter half of 2008 did affect my cycles a bit, but it didn't make me more than a few days late at any time. I also experienced breakthrough bleeding some months.

Hope this helps.

thanks.. i really dont think that i am. the last time i went on a diet way back the same thing happend. plus i know this sounds crazy but i work with a lot of girls and for a bit we were all getting it around the same time then all of a sudden theres were getting all screwed up and off track and so did mine. not sure how true it is for that to happen but it did. anyways i am sure it will come, not all that worried think it is due to diet change and i went from only work activity to 5-7 days at the gym and an increase work load at work plus stress from work.

Actually... I haven't gotten mine either yet. It should have been almost a week ago now. So I think it must have something to do with changing up our lifestyle. Kinda freaky to think about!!! I also, don't think I could possibly be pregnant. I had a little spotting one day and then really nothing else since! I'm just sitting here, waiting... waiting... haha. Freaky! I'm glad you posted this.

Also, it's so normal for girls to have the same cycles when they spend a lot of time together. :)

Like I said, the BC I'm on I will only get my period every three months. So, I haven't taken my pill since I was suppose to get my period. I want to wait and get it before I start up on the pills again. However, no sex for me during this time!! (rats! lmao)
