Question for ladies!!!

I took birthcontrol for approximately a year and a half. I lost probably 20 pounds in the time that I was on them. My question is..Is it really harder to lose weight when you are on birthcontrol?
It seemed like I had a hell of a time loosing weight..and I'm not proud of some of the days I had where I ate very little becuase I was so disappointed in myself.
Now that I'm off of the birthcontrol I haven't really noticed a difference. I figured maybe it's just I always will have a harder time loosing weight than some people becuase that's just my genetic makeup.

Has anyone gotten off of birthcontrol and found it easier to loose weight? or has it been the same on birthcontrol and off? Or most likely does it just vary from person to person?

Just curious..!

***BTW- I'm not trying to loose more weight because I am at a nice weight, but I would like to eat a bit more than I am right now around 1400 cals a day instead of 1100-1200 without gaining weight .. and I'm TERRIFIED of gaining weight now that I lost it all*

It really depends on what pill you are taking. Some are known to cause weight gain. I gained 15 lbs on the pill in 2 months, then lost 9 of those pounds without trying over the next 3 months. I took Yaz, then Errin.

A doctor or pharmacist would be best able to answer your questions about the pill and weight gain.

I lost weight while I was on the pill, about 20 pounds. I then got pregnant while on it and gained nearly 100 pounds which I just finished losing, lol. I would suggest just upping the calories gradually and keep track of the weight from there. So if you are staying the same, you know you are okay, or maybe even able to add a couple hundred more.

I personally think that hormonal fluctuations have ALOT to do with the ability to lose/gain weight. Just my opinion based on my own experiences though.

it depends on the person. i lost weight when i first went on mine (alesse) but mine is low estrogen i think so that may have something to do with it. steve i think suggested upping the calories gradually (add a bit more every 2 weeks till get to maintenance) but i have found that if i eat crappy for a few days and w/ my normal diet (1550) for about half the week then i dont gain weight. you may also want to consider strength training (muscles burn more calories) - now when u do this you will inevitably gain weight but it will also be lean muscle, and if you notice you've gotten "fluffier" you can go on a deficit for a little while again until you get to the point desired. best of luck!

Thanks everybody.. I think I just have to wait it out too and see what happens becuase I've only been off of it for a month now.. I was taking levlin or levlen or something like that.. But, lets see how the next months go! haha
