Question about the gym...

I recently joined a gym and am quite happy to go as often as I can. But is it healthy to go every day? Or is it better to go every other day?

I do 30 mins of cardio and then do weights.

Thanks.

Depends. Listen to your body. If you are sore or seems like your body needs rest to recover, do it. There is nothing wrong with doing the gym everyday as long as your body is ok.

cardio every day is fine. heck, cardio 2x a day is fine if you can hack it.

weights.. depends on what you're doing. if you're going to really exercise a muscle group, give it 48 hours rest before exercising it again, so if you're an every day person, do legs one day, arms another, back, chest, you get the picture.

Yea, definitely listen to your body. I don't know how much previous exercise you've done before joining a gym....but you should start out slowly and work your way up.

I'd do just 1 session of cardio a day for a start, so you don't wear yourself out. Of course you want to be tired, but don't strain yourself.

For weights, you need to really listen to your muscles. Work on 1 muscle group per day, and then let it rest for 2 to 3 days before working on it again. You want your muscles to have time to rebuild themselves. If you don't rest your muscles enough, you will get injured. Not fun.

good rule of thumb is to get your heart rate at about 120 or 130 and then start your weight training.

It's great that you're doing weight training. Muscle is the key to faster fat burning.

One day of rest is usually recommended between workouts. For cardio when you're starting that is probably the best approach. As you develop endurance and your body gets better adapted to it you will be able to increase it. With weight-lifting just make sure you are working different muscle groups each day.
