Hello,
I am a 6'1", 300 pound female. I realized that after I lose all this weight, I'll likely have a lot of extra skin. Yeah, I know. Sounds all gross. But, I'm still working on losing it and maintaining exercise 6 days a week.
Now, I've seen people who lose a lot of weight and have to go through a surgical proceedure in order to get rid of the excess skin. I'm going to be honest here. There's no way I can afford to have any kind of cosmetic proceedures. My question is, can a steady exercise scheduel take care of that? Right now, I walk a mile every morning, 6 days a week, with 5 pound weights on each leg. In the evenings, I do an hour of Taebo that's targetted toward total body fat burning. It contains quite a bit of cardio as well. I've also found some nice muscle exercises that I can do at home with what little equipment I currently have. I have 3 pound, 5 pound weights and 5 pound wrist and ankle strap on weights. These seem to target most of my problem areas.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I've also started seriously counting calories. I measure EVERYTHING we eat! Since I've started counting, my calorie intake has been between 1490 - 1710.7. In order to lose one pound per week, I'd need to stay below 2836.7 calories per day. If I want to lose two pounds per week, I'll need to keep it below 2336.7 calories per day. So, I think my daily calorie intake is well within range for getting the weight off within a reasonable amount of time.
One more question. I used the formula given by someone here on these forums. The formula I used was:
-Women: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)
-Men: BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)
I used this formula for my children. I have an 11 year old daughter who weighs 180 pounds and stands 65 inches in height. My son is 9 years old, weighs 90 pounds, and stands 55 inches in height.
Do those formulas work for children as well? Or, should I use a seperate formula?
