Question about oil

Oil is fat, that much I know, so I've limited my dietary use of it. But what about oil being absorbed by the skin?

I have skin issues, and to keep them at bay I use Vitamin E oil topically twice per day. It's basically Vitamin E suspended in a mixture of soybean, corn, wheat germ, and sesame oils, all of which are rich in Vitamin E themselves. I'm not drinking it, but is the oil entering my bloodstream anyway through the skin? I can't stop using it, I just want to know if I should adjust my caloric intake to make room for absorbing a tablespoon of oil every day.

Anyone know? Thanks!

I'm no doctor or anything, but I'd really be shocked if rubbing it in your skin effected cals in any way.

I think you'll be okay. I think the fat particles in oil are probably too big to be absorbed through the dermis. I may be wrong though, so don't quote me on that. But I've been doing massage (not professionally) for a long time and I've never once thought that I could be making someone fatter when I use massage oils...lol!

Since it is not injected intravenously nor ingested through the digestive tract, no your body will not absorb fat inward through the skin :)
