Quadriceps injury

Was playing football about 4 weeks ago and got kneed quite hard in my right quad. Had to limp off the pitch . Came back on after about 10 minutes it felt alright playing again. Got home later on and could barely get out the car. I also got massive amounts of pain when trying to bend my right leg.

Now I can easily walk and bend my leg but when I try and stretch my quad to test it out it gives me immense pain which i can't cope with. It also hurts to kick a ball (kicking with a fair amount of force).

Any ideas what ive done?
 
Probably a contusion (aka: a big-ass bruise). You may have also received a muscle strain from the impact. Either way, don't be too worried about it. Just rest it, ice it, compress it with a tensor bandage, and keep is elevated (RICE) until the injury is better. Importantly, don't try to push through it, because if the bruising and bleeding is deep enough in the quads, then you can start getting bone spurs if you continue trying to exercise too hard on it before it's healed.
