push ups vs strength training

ive always wondered, people say push ups, pull ups etc, get you cut. but does it build your muscle a different way than strength training or something, or is that just hype? does it have to do with muscle fibers, that fast twitch and slow twitch ( is that right? ).

im tryin to build muscle and cut up too, so tell me if this good for the chest.
ive got the right diet, so no need to worry about that.

im only showing my chest workout, i do my situps, etc etc in between to keep up the hearrate.

i do push ups everyday ( as many as i can do, no set number )

flat push ups to begin with
then incline push ups
then decline push ups

and everyother day i do 2 sets of flys on each side of my chest (15lb) along with my pushups, as many as i can do. (all in all 5 sets for the chest)

should i do my flys before i do my push ups? cause i see it as the my chest is already ripping, so the weight training stretches and rips it more if you see what im trying to say.

my workout seems to be working fine, but any construcive criticism is fine.(also my hormones are raging as i am 16yrs old)

my name is cory and i try to do 1 more pushup everyday than i did the day before. soon ill be up in the hundreds and in the years, the thousands. youll see me in the record books someday, bet.

Your Over Over Training..try Working Out 3 Times A Week Instead Of Everyday..you Should Also Work Other Muscles..unless U Want To Look An Idiot Who Cant Walk Right...try Some Dips And Curls To Start Off..

Once you can do more than about 20 reps of an exercise it's not going to make you any bigger or stronger, it'll only increase your muscular endurance. Start dropping the reps and increasing the weight. It's unlikely that you'll bulk up and cut at the same time, and find a more balanced routine.

really shouldnt work the same muscle group more than once a week. muscles need rest to repair and grow. Make sure you get a good 8 hours of sleep a night, and eat protien. and dont workout the same muscle groups day after day. it will only hurt you in the long run

man of steel has a good point. You might be able to do a thousand pushups after a while.. but your chest will never get big. And pushupsa are techinically considered weight training. As a matter of fact people do weighted pushups (strap on a few pounds to make it a hard workout)

eh

eh if u wanna get cut then work out the way you normally do, but do a bit more cardio and go on a diet, ab muscles are ab muscles, the cut look comes from lack of body fat,

bodyweight exercises will help you burn more calories, it will also build muscle to a point, just like M-O-Steel said. fast twitch fibers grow when from explosive type movements, slow twitch is well from slow movements, there is also medium fibers. I could go on explaining in more detail about this subject, but just follow the others advice.

If you want to grow, you need to add weight. If you don't go to a gym or have access to a weight bench, then find some way to add weight onto your back when you do push-ups. I use the rule that if you can do 12 reps over and over, then it's time to add weight. What is your fitness goal? To build muscle I assume.
