P's diary: ramblings of a carb junkie!

Wooohooo. Good job on the 2 lb loss. You'll be reaching your goal weight in no time and in "one-derland' soon. *yay*:D

Having a good day today, I actually had a sleep in. I don't get too many of those! I've been to the gym and cycled 21kms and I feel really alive at the moment! Today while at the gym I kept focussing (sp?) on "one - derland" to quote MK.:)

Our family has decided to go away for a week in the next school holidays, which are the first 2 weeks in October down here. We'll be going to some theme parks and I dont want to embarrass the kids by not being able to go on any of the rides. OK I'll tell you one of my embarrassing moments. The last time we were at a themepark, I went to get on a ride with my daughter -then 4 - only to find the safety bar wouldn't lock into place over my big, round, wobbly stomach! The ride operator had to hold the ride while I wiggled and jiggled and tried with all my might to move what looked like the immovable mass of my stomach:) FINALLY the safety bar locked into place, but not before I heard a lot of sniggering coming from behind us. So with every stride taken and weight lifted between now and October I'll be concentrating on fitting into that ride:)

I'm about to prepare dinner, yummy tandoori chicken with vegetables. I love diced cucumber and low fat yoghurt with the chicken. Does anyone want to share their favourite food?

I know EXACTLY how u feel about the ride thing AC. That happened to me too. Well, good luck to you and ur umm... Rollercoaster October Goal!! :D
We're rooting for you. :)

As for favourite low-fat foods... I like to make runza wraps. I posted this recipe at my own journal. Dunno if u saw it or not. But here it is again:

Runza Wraps

3 oz lean ground beef, or ground Turkey
2 Cups shredded cabbage (maybe with some shredded carrots if u want)
1/2 onion chopped
1 large flour tortilla
garlic salt
pepper (lots)

1-Brown the ground beef, garlic salt and pepper, with chopped onion, add cabbage, stir fry till wilted, remove from heat.

2-Lay tortilla on top of cabbage mixture and close lid, for 1 minute or so, this will soften the tortilla. Lay the Tortilla on a big plate, put mixture on top, and wrap up like a burrito.

**You can serve it with sour cream I've heard but I don't bother. I think it's much better and healthier without.

and I love to make chili but instead of ground beef, I like to use steak. No added oil. Can be low in salt by just adding lots of other spices instead. And I put in TONS of veggies like mushrooms, zucchinis, peppers. Very yummy with 2 slices of toasted bread.

Just wanted to say hi and let you know that we are on the same team for this coming weight loss challenge!!

Friday 28 July

I've had a bit of an up and down week with my food intake. Though I'm pleased not to have put on any weight this week I haven't achieved my goal of being 209lb by today. It just goes to show that even a few days of overeating (not by much) and missing out on the usual cardio sessions can have a dramatic effect on my weightloss.

My goals this week are to continue with 6 cardio sessions and 4 weight sessions; to concentrate on food intake.

Good luck to my fellow challenge 2 team mates:)

meat

Hello girl! Seems to me like you're doing allright in here. And maybe its somewhat late, but welcome to the forum!

Meat contains a lot of calories, even 'lean' meats like 'lean' steak or chicken.
If you do eat chicken, strip off the skin and only eat the white flesh.
Try to replace the flesh of a cow or a pig by the flesh of fish, for they contain way lesser calories per ounce. Also strip the animals skin off, cause the skin is high in cals.
You don't really need much meat per day, and you also find a lot of protein in several vegetables, nuts, mushrooms and soy products.

Hey AC

Sounds like you are good on your way! Hoping your foodplan is back on track, but don't feel bad for bad days, they make us appreciate the good days more:) Just move on!

that's an ambitious goal but I'm sure you'll do fine. good luck with your week's goals AND the challenge! *cheers AC on with pom poms* :)

Don't forget friday is the last weigh in for the two week challenge!!! :D Hope you're having a great week!!

I'm back to my diary

Wow, its been nearly a month since I posted in my diary. I've been posting in the 200lb club thread and recording some thoughts in there, plus I found I didn't want to spend a lot of time at the computer.

Everything is going really well with my eating Yay!! I've finally got the portion control issue about right........don't get me wrong, I still want that second helping of whatever, its just that now I recognise the difference between 'want' and 'need'.

I cannot describe how much more fitter I feel now, compared to about 6 months ago. I don't huff and puff going up stairs anymore. I 've been going to the gym 6 times a week pretty consistently for the past 3 weeks and I am addicted to that natural high the endorphins give you after a good cardio workout!

So to anyone reading this diary who maybe just starting out or think that it is just too disheartening....keep with it, it is so worthwhile. Believe me if you watch what you eat and get moving the weight will move, so what are you waiting for?

Wow, its been 8 weeks since I last made an entry in my diary. I've decided I had better start making daily entries in my diary and setting daily/weekly goals to kick start my weight loss again.

I've been only half hearted over the last few months. The weight has been the same really over the last 4 weeks. Mainly due to being a bit relaxed with my exercise routine and indulging a bit too much with treats! This may sound funny but this gives me renewed motivation, because I know if I exercise like I was doing and cut out the night time munchies, the weight will start to come off again.

Also, spring is here and the weather is beautiful, it just makes you want to get out and start walking/swimming. So my first goal is to :

Include a 40 minute walk outside of my gym routine in my daily exercise.

Please feel free to pop in and say "hi".

Well, I'm finally back on track, did a lovely walk this morning. No snacking yesterday and today. It's amazing how quickly the calories add up with a handful of crackers here and a few cubes of cheese there!

Anyway, I'm so close to the magical onederland my goal is to arrive there by next Friday 3/11/06.

Good luck on one-derland, im sure youll make it. Yeh i know what you mean about snacking, i have either give up snacks completely, or just monitor them really closely, because i dont realy notice what im eating. And can eat a whole load of calories without noticing. I suppsoe it might help if i put it on a plate, rather than eating it stood by the fridge. Am trying to avoid cheese at all costs for a while it is one of my many food vices.

Anyway have a great week :)
