Proteins and weight loss

Not sure if this should come here, but I am concerned with the percentage of protein comparing to carbohydrates in vegetable foods. What vegetable foods are higher in protein?

Vegetable foods that usually have the highest protein content are called legumes (mostly beans and peas). The top 5 for protein content (as listed on Fitday.com) are:

1. Soybeans

2. Lentils

3. Beans

4. Peas

5. Artichokes

You can google "protein content of vegetables" to find more information. Here is one example: http://www.weightlossforall.com/protein-vegetable.htm If anyone has a list from a reputable source, feel free to post it

Broccoli has some amazing protein. This biggest thing is to understand that the protein in plants is better absorbed into the blood compared to the protein in protein shakes.

You are wrong. Protein from animal products are better absorbed. Protein absorption from plant products are the lowest.

Chick peas are a good source of protein yes. From calorieking it says 100g of chick peas has 19.3g of protein BUUUUT the carb content is 60.6g per 100g. It is a trade-off.

Legumes are a primary source of protein for vegetarians. You could use chickpeas, for example. Cheese is also a source of protein (not sure cheese and chickpeas work - LOL. Perhaps a soft, white cheese - eg feta - would be nicer)

Also, you could make the dough out of wholemeal wheat, which has more protein. And "Hard Red Spring Wheat" is one of the more richer wheats in protein.
