Weight-Loss Protein??

Hello,
Today I was watching recipe show on T.V., the Dr. with Chef were suggesting that if your weight is 60kg you must intake 60gms of protein a day.
So my question is, is that right suggestion??
Because I also heard that excessive intake of protein can hurt..

It depends on your activity i guess.
If you want to gain weight you have to take it more and exercise more.
