Protein Shakes

Hi guys,

I'm starting to use protein shakes again, but i'm not sure when i should use it. I've always been told to use it after a workout, but i eat about an hour after working out. I want to be able to get as much nutrients as i can from eating.

I heard from numberous people that your body can only use a certain amount of grams every couple of hours. I just need some guidance as to when i should take it. One thing, i do get hungry between breakfast and lunch, and being at the Air Force Academy. I can't eat when i want, we have to march at a certain time to meals.
 
after a workout is a very good time. if you have whey protein, it is very fast acting, and right after a workout your body will be craving proteins and carbs.
 
the myth about how many grams of protein you can consume at one time is just that: a myth. there's no concrete evidence to prove one way or the other. too many factors are involved.

i agree with freddy, you need carbs and protein ASAP after a workout followed by another meal roughly an hour later. most ppl cant stomach solid food right after a workout (thats me ;)) so a shake can be very beneficial.
 
Thanks for the info guys, i'll continue doing what i have been doing an drink after working out.

What is an ectomorph, abear?
 
one of the three bodytypes. mesomorph are the naturally muscular ppl, endomorph are the naturally high bodyfat ppl.

ectomorphs are the natually thin ppl. if when someone was a kid, that when their parents let them go outside and play they stuck rolls of quarters in their pockets so the wind wouldnt take them away, thats an ectomorph. thats me.

i used to do the same thing without a problem...

if you do it beofre bed and you have whey protein, be sure you mix it with milk so you can reap the benefits of the slow acting casein protein
