Protein Shake Recipes

I thought we could all share our favourite protein shake recipes. I am starting to get bored of the same old thing.....
Anyways, my favourite is chocolate protein powder w/ 1/2 banana, 1T PB, and 1T ground flax.

Right now I use American Whey Berry Flavored, then add some mixed berries or a bananna, a couple handfulls of ice and non fat milk

16 and my first job....hmmm

anyways its at a "Smoothie King" they specialize in making smoothies and protein shakes. They have tons of recipes and when i get the job i'll post the best of em :)

Might want to read your employee contract. Something about trade secrets ... non-disclosure perhaps? :)

towards the end of the month whent their busy season starts i'll be hired. I know the owner real well, and i guess then i'll pm you. errr and not to sound like and idiot or anything but it is my first job......non-disclsure contracts..?trade secrets of what..? just a lil confused its late rigth now lol

:) Usually, when you're hired at a company, they have a little bug in their butt about employees giving away the recipes and secrets that are the cornerstone of their business. Most places I've worked at require their employees to sign an employee contract that includes some kind of confidentiality statement that makes it illegal for you to go telling others how they operate.

yep, you can be sure smoothie-king wont want you to be posting their recipes online - or telling them to anyone, for that matter.

here's 2 of my current favorite protein shake recipes, i drink one of these after my morning run/workout:

1st shake: 8 oz water, 1 tsp PB, 1 tsp smuckers sugar free strawberry jam, 1/4th cup FF cottage cheese, 4 strawberries, 1 tbsp milled flax seed, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, a little splenda to sweeten. blend together thoroughly and enjoy. BTW, you can subtitute apricots and apricot jam for the strawberry stuff, or blueberries, etc. i like this one because it's sort of like a PB&J as a smoothie, LOL!

2nd shake: 8 to 10 oz water, 1 half a banana, 1 tsbp milled flax seed, 1 tbsp hemp seeds, 1 tbsp quinoa flakes, 1 tbsp wheat germ, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 tbsp cottage cheese, a little spenda to sweeten. blend all ingredients and enjoy.

great thread idea, BTW. i was just thinking the other day it would be good to see other ideas for shakes.

damn good thread spockafina,
I recently bought (for the first time) protein powder, but I bought an unflavoured kind!, smelt deliscious but taste's like crap, so I really do need some flavour advice...

i actually prefer the unflavored kind most of the time, you're gonna be adding some fruit probably anyway and it doesnt clash with the taste. i usually keep chocolate on hand and also unflavored, but use the unflavored more than the others.

I have learned many ways to make good protein drinks but one of these i swear your think your drinking a milkshake. Okay so if your lucky enough to have a store such a GNC near you by the Protein 95 powdered drink. Next get a blender some milk and some ice. Put around 2 to three cups of the powder. (A cup comes with the powder use that) Next fill a glass up to 3/4ths filled with milk and pour into blender as long as four cubes of ice. Next blend on high for around a minite to a minite and a half. Next Put this in the fridge for as long as you can! The longer its in the better it taste! This works the best in chocolate and vanilla.

My two favorites (right now;)....are:

1).....1 ripe banana, apple juice (organic or best quality you can find or afford)..pour just over enough to cover banana, put in a big scoop of protien powder, add granola,...blend (if you have multiple settings on your blender you can go for whip after blend). Taste....(thicken with more banana or powder or loosen with a bit more apple juice its up to you).

2)....1 ripe banana, plain flavor soy milk (just enough half way up to banana but not to cover it), 2 cap fulls (or 1 tsp) of maple syrup, 1 tbsp of carob powder,....blend. (if you have multiple settings on your blender you can go for whip after blend). Taste....(thicken with more banana or powder or loosen with a bit more soy milk, sweeten with a bit more maple syrup its up to you).

P.S...It might matter what brand of soymilk you use for #2..I used VITASOY soymilk CLASSIC ORIGINAL FLAVOR. When I used another brand it didn't taste as delicious to me.

mmmmmmmmm i'm drooling

Yea!.....I just had the second one for breakfast this am...I also add a little lecthin granules or wheat germ after the carob powder..and do the blend as aforemetioned... I used a larger banana ..(no granules this time, just forgot)....and it was more the banana tasty...but still caroby...smaller banana, less soy milk = more caroby. Also I found that it may taste different depending on the brand of soy milk you use. If you have a least a 1/2 liter of water first thing in the morn on empty stomach...then give yourself 20 mins or so afterwards...then make the shake its supposed to be a good cleanser....(depending on your body I guess)..beats castor oil thats for sure. :p
