proper way to do abdominal exercises with weights

Hey, im wondering how to properly do abdominal exercises with weights added, for example crunches, or anything that is effective for the ab rectus area. Ive tried searching but i couldnt find any videos or details on how to perform it. I would think you hold the weight on top of your chest, but is there more to it?

the reason you cant find any videos on the subject is because they are in a skip adding to a land fill problem (and probibily lots of trees in south america).
Dont wish4fitness read for fitness u will learn if u are dedicated enough in my opinion isolated abs exercises are crap. I dont know if u r 300 lbs and 5ft2 or 150lbs and 6ft but u have a better chance of getting great abs if you use CCRs ass master400
good luck happy reading and welcome

I was curious about the same question. I usually put the weights on top of my chest and hold it there with my hands so its not putting too much pressure on my chest but i'm not sure if thats the correct way to do it.

It's the exercise they used to show when selling ab rollers on TV. Only a more advanced method is to get stand on your feet.

Not sure which specific ab exercises you were referring to, but some I've done in the past involving weights were.........

- crunches ( floor or swiss ball ) : I simply used to hold 2 - 25lb. plates across my chest when I did them

- cable crunch : simply set the cable weight ( in front or facing away from cable ) using a rope attachment

- hip raise ( or vertical leg crunch ) : you can hold a dumbbell between your feet or use ankle weights or a small medicine ball

- reverse crunch : again, if you have a cable attachment, you can use an ankle attachment ( velcro strap ) for cable work, or a dumbbell between your feet or a small medicine ball.
