Sport Problem when blending whey protein with water

Sport Fitness
When i blend whey protein powder with water in my blender i always end up with a load of "froth" and it makes it hard to pour out and drink. Any reason why this is happening? lol. Is it because i am blending it too long i really don't understand.

I'm mixing 40g of whey protein powder with 1 Pint of water as per the instructions.

How are you mixing it? If you just pur water in it and then put 40g of protein at once then it is most likely gonna do that.

If you blended has a lid that has an opening at the top i would use that to drop protein in it. Also, why water? try mixing it with milk :), tastes much better.

If you dont have en opening at the top i would pour a little in, mix and pour some more in.

Personally, I find it easier just to stir with a coffee spoon. It only takes 2-3 minutes for perfect consistency. Also yes, it does taste pretty good with milk, but actually I find that Pro Plex Whey Protein tastes good even with only water.

I use a Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing maker. It's a really handy bottle, that has a ribbed wheel in it that mixes everything up...might have em at Walmart or something...

1. Use milk. Milk has 1g protein/fl oz, so you won't need to use as much whey. Also, the lactose will help illicit an insulin response for moving it to LBM.
2. Give it time to settle.

Can I ask you a question? I have been told by a couple people not to use milk with whey shakes after workouts, since the fat in it slows digestion when your muscles need it most. Is the slow down not a big deal?

Use skim milk. I use the generic term milk when I mean skim or fat free milk. It's the only type I drink.

specifically fat free skim milk. skim milk can legally contain .5% milkfat. fat free skim is 0.0% milkfat.

maybe try another brand of whey. my Nitrean doesn't really froth, a nd I only need a simple shaker, not a full sized blender, to mix it.

While it's good to know there is a distinction, the difference becomes nitpicky. If I remember right, less than 10g fat is acceptable for a PWO shake, with less being more.

In this case, skim is as good as fat free.
