Problem Area, Need Help

I've gone from 225 to 180 in the last little while and every part of my body is shrinking quite nicely except for under my arms on my sides. From the front angle I look like I have extra fat on my sides but ONLY under my arm pits right around my rip cage, it's very annoying.

What's a good exersize to bring this down a bit?

Thanks!

What you're wondering about is something called "spot reduction".

Spot reduction is something that the diet industry shoves down all of our throats so we all seem to think we can make fat in a particular area of the body go away. Every ab-crunching plastic piece of crap they try to sell you on TV claims that "... it stimulates the stomach to melt away the fat over your abs... blah blah blah give me your money..."

The honest truth here is that spot reduction is a myth. For the typical human being looking to improve his/her health spot reduction is impossible. All you're doing by exercising and eating better is creating a caloric deficit. As a result of that, your body is going to start recruiting energy from it's stores (your fat) and you will start losing fat. There's no way to tell your body where to get the energy or which stores to use it just makes that selection naturally.

So your only option is to keep doing a great job and keep working hard. Eventually that bit of fat you hate will be reduced and your goals met. Same idea with people having lower belly fat and it being a notoriously tough area to remove fat from. Don't sweat it... just keep on truckin' and it will come eventually.
