These questions looked fun.

--How much weight do you want to lose? Now 123 pounds

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?I will get there as soon as reasonably possible. (or before)

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?PRAYER, planning meals and becoming more active

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?My faith in God, family and my wonderful fiance

-- How realistic is your goal? The accomplishment of this goal will require more sacrifice than I have given in the past but I feel confident. Its realistic to me and thats all that matters.

-- When will you start? I have already started

What is your current height and weight?5 feet, 253 lbs

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?150 lbs (my goal is 130 lbs but i feel I may be happy at 150 lbs but that would make my BMI still to high)

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?I will take 199lbs I am just tired of being over 200lbs

Why do you want to lose weight?I want to know what it feels like to be healthy and to look healthy

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? The methods were unreasonable. When I was starving my self it was for the wrong reason as soon as I started eating again I gained weight so fast I did not realize it. The Atkins diet is not good for me I like real food but all that meat is just gross I got really sick.

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?YES. Everything

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?I don't go out to eat much. Restaurants don't hold a flame to my cooking, when I do go out I am often unsatisfied.I have seen some of of the chefs in nice restaurants cooking and they don't look clean or sanitary. I do not like paying for a plate of filth.

What are your three favorite restaurants?Fudruckers(Burgers mmmmm), My Kitchen Bistro(I am the chef), I can't think of a third.

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Juice it. I want a juicer because I love juice.

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?I was just thinking today how cool it would be to have skin of a chameleon.

From 290 lbs - 253 lbs

I wanted to take the time out to acknowledge the fact that I did nothing on my own to loose down to 253 pounds. I have been on an off diets since I was 10 years old the only methods that I have not tried are diet pills, surgery, and and the companies that ship you your meals. There have been times that I would cut my calories exercise until I was weak and shaky and still not loose anything. At times I figured that my body was on strike because no matter what my efforts were I was stuck. Loosing weight was all I thought about. I read magazines, books watched T.V. programs and would try almost any new fast. At some point early last year(2009) I stopped. No more planning diets I stopped reading about weight loss and watching T.V. programs about it and stopped dieting.
I tried for a while to accept my self as a BBW. No offense to anyone that is happy in a larger frame. When I looked at myself in the mirror there was nothing that I liked. Going on another "diet" was not an option. I felt powerless. As a Christian I know that there is nothing to small for God, my prayers are normally for others and I felt so selfish asking for help for myself but I did. My prayer (short version) was, "Father I am thankful for the body that you gave me please forgive me for not being a good steward over it. I have tried in so many ways to loose weight but have failed. Please help me as I cannot help myself with this issue. Allow me to loose weight in health and not in sickness. In Jesus name amen." Gradually some changes took place that on my own I know I could not have accomplished such as...
-I stop eating before I am full
-I don't eat just because its there
-Sometimes all I want is veggies and fruit
-I have traded in cow milk for soy
-I enjoy food. (Before I ate everything, now I eat what I have a taste for no matter the calories if its fatty just don't eat so much, it if it healthy eat as much as I want)
-I have little to no taste for pork, beef, or poultry

I feel compelled to give credit where credit is due. I know that God answered my prayer and saw how very troubled I was by my situation if I were able to accomplish this on my own I would have a long time ago. Truly He has done a great thing in my life.

I wish food were not such a big deal. I think about the less fortunate often while some wonder what they are going to eat there are others that don't know if they will eat at all. Health experts call out different numbers as to how many meals one day should hold, 3-6 meals in one day. What am I going to lack if for some reason I only get two meals? Will I collapse, loose motor function, or will I go insane? Further how does one go about becoming a "health expert"? Is that something that you dub yourself as or can some one else tell you thats what you are? If I can dub myself then I am "health expert" after all I have read and every diet that I played guinea pig to. Perhaps there is a fine line since I am still fat maybe one has to first be healthy to be a "health expert". Is this a job or a hobby for folks that claim this title? Oh well I am going to bed.

Hi, and welcome,

I can't say I share your faith or religious beliefs, but if you feel that God is helping you to lose weight that can only be a good thing and will hopefully help you to keep motivated.

I have also tried to lose weight many times in the past, suceeding in a big way only twice and both times gradually putting it back on again. So I know from experience that you have to be in the right frame of mind to do it right and STICK AT IT even on those days when you find it really hard... not easy at all, as everyone here knows! But hopefully this time around it will all work for you. :)

But the more you get into it the better and I find this forum a real help, both to pick up tips and inspiration from how others are doing it, and to get some support from other people in your own battle of the bulge. :p

Anyway, good luck. x

I am so tired in my mind I want to exercise but my body says "Are you kidding me". I truly commend people that can balance careers, family, home, health and there sanity. At one point I was thinking if I did not have to sleep how much more could be accomplished in one day, but that is not reasonable. I have found my self in a pattern 5 days a week that is so draining wake up, work, run errands if any, clean house, prepare dinner, sleep, and do it again tomorrow. There have been times that I have been able to break the cycle and get some exercise and while after about two weeks I start feeling great and full of energy, this time I am having a hard time forcing the issue. Help!!!!!!!!!

No more hullabaloo

Today I am proud to announce that I went for a 30 min walk. I actually feel more relaxed than usual, after work I am tense and irritable but today I am just calm. Tomorrow I am going to stop at the gym that is on my way home from work and see about a membership while I love walking outdoors I do not enjoy exaust fumes. The gym is not expensive and it has a month to month option. I have revamped my eating habits which before I was eating everything but less of it but I have been thinking about my parents family and the things that may hereditarily may befall me at some time in my life. The main issue in my families health line is diabetes so i figure that while I have not been diagnosed with this condition that it would be wise to eat as if I had. I believe it will help me to better understand my parents as they both have diabetes. In addition to that I do need a more sructured diet. Sooo lucky me I found the book Surgar Busters for a $1.00 I plan to follow this plan and create a healthy life style out of it.

Hi Lighter2010; that's a beautiful prayer you created. Good for you for going for a walk today. I think your goal of weight loss is realistic. I have a few friends who are incredibly good cooks and that is a huge obstacle to them gaining weight. I hope you can figure a way around that.

Welcome to WLF. Have a great day at the gym tomorrow and good on ya for working towards a structured eating regime :)

The eating plan from Sugar Busters is working out great. Its not hard to remember and for me it just makes sense. The trip to the gym just did not go to well its too busy and I am in an office building all day the last thing I want to do is be in another enclosed space when I get off from work. So I have opted to walk the nature trails which are free. So to keep things interesting I have decided that every month (or less) I will buy something to add to my personal gym or something that will benefit my work out efforts (such as clothing, shoes, exercise videos ect..) Last week I bought a 10 lb medicine ball its great for low impact and high impact exercises. :jump: I love it, there are so many things that can be done with it, when I find myself waiting for something or just bored I pick it up toss it around, do simple lifts with it, every little bit counts.

Exercise is going well. My muscles are sore so I guess that good. I find now that I look forward to exercise. I can't wait to see physical proof of my efforts.
