Hi everyone:waving:

I'm Mel, I've been a lurker on this forum for a long time, giving weight loss a go a dozen times! However, I'm now almost at my all time heaviest weight and I'm starting to feel depressed because of it. I have such a fantastic life and I really want to improve my own attitude and moods to go along with it. So here goes my goal, I want to reach 70 kgs, which is in the normal weight range for my height, before my anniversary (and probable proposal haha). I might do the quiz thing to let everyone know a little more about me.:hurray:

1. What is your current height, weight and age
Weight is around 100kgs or 220lbs, however I'm just about to attend my first weight watchers meeting so I will let you know for sure tonight. I am 171cm or 5'7 and 21 years old.
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
Ideal weight for me would be around 60 kilos (132lbs) but I want to see how I feel at 70(154lbs) and then go from there
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
I would like to be around 80 but I won't freak out if I'm not quite that small, just want to get there slowly and surely.
4. Why do you want to lose weight?
Because I can be so much more than just 'the fat one'
5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
Yes I'm hoping to be slim for my engagement
6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
My partner works a very physical job and therefore is constantly eating and up until now I have just joined in. I need to stop this
7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I depend on food for everything, it has been my comfort.
8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Mentally controlling myself and taking small steps to exercise more
9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Mentally restricting my comfort cravings and exercising a whole bunch
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
Love haha and comfort and lack of exercise
11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Restricting too much, I just binged
12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
Yea I'm going to try fitday.
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
Yea I do, and hopefully will start more. I used to eat a lot of stirfries and lean meat and veges but since this doesn't satisfy my boyfriend I've recently been eating a lot of pasta bakes, lasagne and takeaways, pizza etc
14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
Anywhere and alllll the time.
15. What are your three favorite foods?
Fruit, bread, chocolate
16. What are your three favorite restaurants?
Hells Pizza, Mexican and McDonalds haha!
17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Keep my portion sizes down for sure! Up my veges intake, keep my simple carbs down.
18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I'd be healthy enough to do whatever I wanted and not feel my body drag me down
19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes all the time
20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
Yes this is the way I reward myself

Hi everybody (if anyone is reading this haha)

I forgot to mention yesterday that I was following the weight watchers points system to help me with my weight loss. I had my first meeting last night and i must say it was full of OLD people!!!! old ladies who looked like they had been going since the sixties and still hadn't managed to budge the weight. Thankfully I have a friend going with me who is almost the same height/weight/age as me, so that helps a lot. We did have a good laugh at all the oldies however.
Anyway so today was my first day of counting points and to be honest I am reallllly hungry, it doesn't seem like very much food??? Maybe it is and I'm just used to so much more haha

good luck with everything, got any questions and such, just ask. someone can answer it, I usually lurk about.

but yeah, good luck!

Thanks:) I'm a little stuck for ideas for some easy healthy meals at the mo. I've been searching round on the net but its getting harder to find something that suits my diet and my partners needs! he works a hugely physical job everyday so is always hungry hungry hungry and until now ive just eaten whatever he eats haha it has to stop!

Hew Mel, welcome to the sight.

You should have no problem finding help on this site. IMO the best site I have ever found.

Well good luck, I hope you succeed in you new adventure.

Good luck with your weight loss! I've never followed weight watchers, the point thing just seems too confusing to me. Good luck with your goals! Stay on this site, post in your journal! It's so motivating!

good luck girl!! im a new member here too, and i must say some people are absolute gems of morivation and inspiration! hang in there :);)

Hi everybody, thank you so much for reading, its so reassuring and nice to see people actually do read your diary:) so thanks again.

I had a hell of a long day at work but kept to my diet completely, I'm finding myself going below my 23 points at the moment so I'm going to have to work on keeping them up to at least 18. I was wondering if anyone had ideas on exercise I could do at night with my boyfriend, we really want to do something together but as we live in a neighbourhood with no street lights it is a bit dangerous to go out walking.

Hi everybody,

yes dancing might be a great idea actually, my bf loves to dance when hes drunk so if I can convince him to do it sober itl be perfect! haha:)

I cant believe how good weight watchers has been, I dont feel hungry and I dont feel like I'm on a diet, I'm just eating regular healthy food and still having loads of treats (within reason)

I was wondering today if I counted calories instead of points how many id be eating, cause it sure seems like a whole bunch haha

Well done moving out of Lurker mode :) it looks like you have made the adjustment to weight watcher well, moving from being hungy at the beginning to needing to eat more :)

good effort so far

Thanks so much

Yea once I finally relaxed and ate up instead of restricting myself like I normally would I realised how easy it is! And I'm pretty sure I am losing, I will find out for sure on Thursday at my meeting yay!

Sounds like we have similar attitudes to food... comfort and looooove, that's what it's been to me. Now food is starting to be fuel... nice change!

Can't wait to see your loss!

Hey :)

Yes definitely food was my comfort, my entertainment and my best friend!
Even though weight watchers might not work for everyone, its quite time consuming, I'm really enjoying finding out just how many points junk food is worth and then what it does to my body compared to healthier stuff.
Last night I had a small portion of popcorn at the movies and when I get home I found I had eaten almost 6 points worth and I felt quite ill! Bloated and a bit hungry really. SIX points is not much considering I only have 23 a day!!!

Weigh in day today! Im so nervous as its getting closer to my tom and I can feel the bloat setting in lol I will be pretty sad if the scale shows no change or a gain because of this! especially for my first weigh in haha:) does anyone elses weight fluctuate around their tom? Mine seems to be at least a few kilos different!!!!!

Won't know my weight change till 6.30 but I do know I've lost a whole inch off my hips and half an inch from my waist in one week yay:)
