Pre and post workout meal

Hey all, I am trying to figure out what I can do to get more energy when I workout. I eat a bp&j about an hour before I workout so I can get a little bit of sugar from the jelly. I have a protein shake with two scoops protein, 1 cup milk, and 1 banana as soon as I get home. The thing is I always feel drained when I am at the gym. I was thinking about drinking coffee but won't that quit working if I do it 5 times a week?

id eat something high in carbs before the gym if i were you, and before every training session at gym i always buy an energy drink called 'caffiene kick' and they jus mix it with some water and it gives me a good buzz to work out with!

Its only £1.50, if your at a gym your gym will sell energy drinks, try buying one and see if you feel better, personally after a 'caffiene kick' i dont want to leave the gym :)

I eat 6 times a day. I eat whole grain kashi cerial in the morning around 6:30, maybe an egg while omelet at around 9:30, some pasta and chicken around 12:30, and a pb & j(natural peanut button on whole wheat bread) at about 3:30 and I am off work at 4:30 so I get to the gym about 4:45(its only a few minutes away). When I get done working out (around 6) I have a protein shake a maybe a piece of fruit and I cap the day off with nonfat cottage cheese at around 9.

By the way, I try to get about 8 hours of sleep but it turns out to be more like 7.

Won't your body get used to it after awhile? I am cheap and would just make straight black coffee at work if that is all I need. I am trying to look for a way not to get dependent on caffeine.
