Post Work Out Carbs...

What do i use as sources of high gi post wo carbs for insulin spiking? ive been told everything from just having some dried fruit to maltodextrin and glutamine

whats best? im currently trying to cut fat right down before trying to bulk a bit. can i just take a couple of energy tablets (dextrose, such as lucozade) or is there something more effective and specific to my needs?

ta

I'd recommend dextrose at a 2:1 ratio of your whey. So, if you are taking in 30grams of whey, you should consume 60 grams of dextrose.

Like myself you may find dextrose too sweet to have 60g in your shake so I go with 30g dextrose and 30g maltdextrine.
Yeah - no point in eatting fats before a workout uless your on the anabolic diet and fat is your primary fule.

Why would you consume a fat at this time if all it's going to do is slow the digestion of the pro/carbs? It's not contributing to the repair process.
when you have a whole meal with protein like meat or fish its difficult not to have some fat in it.
basicly what i am saying if you read the thread that throwing down a shake as soon as you have droped the last weight is a bit pointless when you can take advantage of having a good wholesome meal, much more enjoyable :D

Of couse a little fat will always be present but actually trying to take in a fat source at this time would not be a good idea.

A very good point, the insulin spike will basically just help you store fat. So this would be one of the worst times in the day to get your fat intake.

yeah, and you could do what i do. I have my chocholate milk as a pwo "shake" and when i get home i eat up with some "propper" food, but lowfat food.

Yeah, dextrose is good stuff PWO along with your protein shake. Not too long after, you should have a meal though, but try to stay off the fats.

still struggling to find dextrose in the UK, all my searches just find creatine/dextrose combinations.

also, i though meals towards the end of the day were supposed to contain fat? or is this the curse of evening workouts rearing its ugly head?

thanks to all

It all depends when your weight training session is. If you performed an activity that requires carbs than it doesn't matter if it's midnight.
