Post baby weight

I have had a child a year for the past 4 years and my 4th baby arrived 2 weeks ago. Needless to say I have definitely put on baby weight. Before having kids I was a slender and muscular 5'8 145lbs. I am now 202lbs. and would like to lose the weight within the next 6 to 8 months. My eating habits(HABITS that are hard to break) are slacking but improving day by day. As far as working out is concerned, I have decided to wait at least 4-6 more weeks before starting a workout routine. Keep in mind when I work out I am either 8 or 80mph so I do not want to injure myself go going all out too fast.
Any advice on how to most efficiently lose all of this weight in the healthiest of ways would be great!:)

Very glad you said plan on waiting a few more weeks :D

First thing, not sure if you've had c-sections in the past and if so, when. Definitely 100% talk with your doctor about what you can do and what you cannot do. Some c-sections mean you cannot do certain ab move/exercises.

So check with the doc about that first and foremost. Then start a regular and consistent workout routine. At first start with a lot of walking and light weights (focus on making the movements properly. Perfect the form!). Begin eating every 2-3 hours (protein and good carb at each meal).

After a month or so of that, increase your cardio and weight training intensity. Start working with heavier weights (heavier weights work MUCH better for fat loss). Cardio intensity can vary in time and intensity. So one day a low/long session (walking for an hour), then a few days of medium sessions (30-40 minutes jogging, treadmill, biking, etc- intensity level 6 on a levelof 1-10).

The trick is to start slow. Then increase the intensity when appropriate. Always eat 5-6 times per day. Always drink more water than anthing else. And rest at least 1 day per week.

Your body will get rid of the weight, but don't expect miracles :) Be patient, consistent, and do it safely. You'll definitely succeed. I know there are books out there for fitness after pregnancy. I cannot think of a title right now, but I know they exist. Hope that helps a little.

At two weeks post partum the last thing you should be thinking about is how quickly you can lose the weight and how soon you can start exercising. Take it slow, take your time. Eat healthy, but don't over restrict yourself, especially if you are nursing. Check with your obgyn or midwife, but walking is probably a good place to start with exercise.

I have to say that there is something psychologically wrong with someone who belittles another person to make themself look better and 'specially on a 'net forum at that. Unless you have something to contribute, why don't you take your high horse trolling ass onto bodybuilding.com where they like to boast to each other about how much bigger, stronger, and better they are than the other person.

agreed evo. Please disregard that users statement as that is not the normal attitude around here and most likely they wont be around here for long.

Lynn gives great advice and her site has much to offer alot of people as well so pay attention to the well informed trainer and ignore the troll:)
