Possible?

Hey everyone. I just started seriously working out about a month ago, I'm 15.

What I'm trying to do, is gain some weight in muscle by the end of October. Right now I am 140 pounds, by the end of them month I'm trying to be at least 155-160. This month I gained 10 pounds pure muscle, but I would like more.

I'm going to get some protein shakes, and eat as much protein as possible.

I was talking to my gym teacher ( a former body builder, and pro rugby player). He said its possible, but can do damage to my body if I do it wrong. This is what he told me:

The idea to gaining weight in muscle isn't only to work out extremely hard, that is actually one of the smaller ways. You need to have a good, fatty diet, loaded with protein, to give your muscles the energy, and material to grow. Rest is also a very important key. Each day work out a little longer, doing harder things, while eating a little more as well. If you do gain fatty weight by eating more than usual you can burn it off soon enough.

The last week I've been checking what foods to eat, and how regularily to eat. I'm getting much more than the needed amount of protein each day, and eating more than normal. So far I have noticed a pretty big difference in my arms, they are getting bigger fast.

My question is; is it possible for me to gain 15-20 pounds in a month, gaining as little fat as possible?

Thanks a lot if you read it all. :p

Not without steroids, 15-20lbs a month is almost unheard of. If you've already gained 10lbs in a month, be very happy. I gain 10lbs of pure muscle in 4-6months and im happy! If you really did gain that much weight in a month, next month you could probably put on half of that. Because every month it will get harder..

In the end, if you do it right, the results will be long lasting. So don't get discouraged if they take time and effort. It sounds like you're doing great, so just keep it up!

15-20lbs can not be done in a month. If you stick with it hard you could get that in possibly 2 or 3 months. Be happy if you get 5lbs of muscle a month if you can get more your probably a freak.

If you gained 10 pounds of muscle in a month than you should not be asking for advice. You should tell everyone here how you train, what you eat, what you supplement, which combinations of drugs you are injecting and any other secrets because if any of us knew how it was done ALL of us would stop what we were doing and hit the gym immediately.

And you are talking about trying to gain almost a pound of rock solid muscle on your frame every day for the next month- You could join the X-men wtih that kind of power.

Let us all know how it works out.

and if it turns out that that 10 pounds was mostly all fat- congrats anyways cuz I'd have a real hard time doing that too.

It was 10 pounds muscle, I checked the fat percentage in my blood and it only when up a little bit, not enough for even 5 pounds.

What I do is simple: Each morning I get up and make a healthy drink (3 raw eggs, yogurt, 2 percent milk). Mix it all, drink it. Do about 200 push ups before I have to go to school (sometimes 300-400 depending on how much time I have). Go to school, buy a sausage, and egg muffin. Eat during class, just random things, that have a lot of protein. Than for lunch, I have a normal sandwhich, extra meat (turkey or chicken). Have gym class ( I try to do as little running as possible so I don't waste energy). Go home, using my stretchy rope thing. Than curls, 60 pounds (one bar) so 30 lbs each arm. Have another shake thingy.

Do about 400 push ups.

Rest + eat ( a lot of meat)

have another shake

Sleep

Nothing very special.

You can test bodyfat percentage with a blood sample? Never read anything about that. How is it done?

Your blood lipids don't have much to do with your fat percentage. So that isn't good to go by at all..

Frankly, I just don't buy it.
In answer to your original comment skip the multiple hundred reps of anything and the exercise bands. You are committed and you are certainly not stupid. You have some descent strength for your size but I think you have been doing too many bodyweight exercises. Stick to weights as much as possible and keep weights between 6-15 reps. Let each muscle rest for 48 hours before working it again. You may not have enough weight back home so join a gym or ask your teacher if there is a weight room hidden in some dark corner in your school. (many have secret weightroom that never get used) Instead of just eating a lot of protein eat 1 gram per pound of lean bodyweight which is your weight minus fat. I would reccommend you get an accurate test to really see what you are gaining. If can gain 10 pounds a month while working out you have some good genes and can accomplish a lot so you will save yourself a lot of frustration with just because your genes are good. Now, keep in mind that muscle comes from the recovery and not the exercise so let the muscles rest (don't dot the same thing two days in a row). While your protein is already a solid effort try to keep your calories high, too- like around 2,500.

You won't gain a pound a day but that is basically how it's done
