Pomegranate juice anyone?

At work the other day a lady had the cutest bottle of juice and I asked what it was. I check out the label of this pomegranate juice and the label looks darn good so I say I'm going to look into this, as she says it tastes good and she's a picky person.

Today at the grocery store, I see the cute little bottle and it jars my memory. I decide on the blueberry flavor. I get it home and in fact it IS good! Yippee, a new drink. I just googled it and found all this great stuff about it. Who knew? I certainly didn't. It appears this stuff is all the rave and I'd never heard of it. This stuff is supposed to help everything from erectile dysfunction to cancer!

So...I was just wondering, anyone else drinking pomegranate juice?

to one of the articles I was reading....you'll see the cute little bottle. According to this write up, there's also pomegranate ice cream. YUMM! :D

Ah, Pom. It's really popular here in california, everyone who's not carrying Starbucks has one of those things. I wouldn't beleive everything that the article says about it, but the juice does have a lot of vitamin C, and the fruit content is healthy if you don't go overboard with the calories from the sugar content.

Pomegranate ice cream sounds really really good, lol!

The more I read, the more articles I find...even webMD supports including this fruit in your diet and they don't typically jump on "the band wagon." I just thought the bottle was cute. lol And look what I happened upon.

The brand that I have, has planted "orchards" (? not sure if that's the word I'm looking for) out in California. I was just looking at my bottle, it's a 16 oz bottle, 160 cals, 0 from fat and 0 cholestorol/protein, 33 grams of sugar and 340 mg of potassium, 39 g of carbs. Vitamin A 4%, Vitamin C 0%, Calcium 2%, Iron 0%. Not bad...I wouldn't OD on it, but not bad.

It has more antioxidants that green tea or red wine....not a bad little fruit...and you can decorate your home with it. :D It NEVER ends with this thing! On the POM Wonderful site it has some yummy sounding recipes for Pomegranate foods and drinks. I think I want a POMTINI! :p

Well of course it's good for you, most fruits are =D You're supposed to get five servings a day, after all ^^ Now if only vegetables could taste so good, lol. *eyes salad* WebMD probably supports all fruits in your diet. I don't want to spoil the fun, but no food is really 'magical', so you probably won't see that much of an effect from drinking pomegranate juice... Of course, it could have some good psychological benefits if you believe in it!

It has less calories than I recalled o_O 33 grams of sugar is pretty bad though, especially seeing as we're only supposed to be getting like 40 grams a day tops.

I'm not presenting it as a miracle fruit, I'm just saying I hadn't heard about all this rave prior to googling it today. I was just interested because it was a 100% fruit juice in a cute bottle THEN I find out after the fact that it is purported to have such health benefits. I was wondering if anyone else was drinking it and for what reasons. I plan to continue to drink it, simply because I like it. It certainly won't hurt me in my efforts to maintain my weight, I still drink more than my fair share of water and eat as I should, etc.

So...back to my question, any members drinking this stuff?

*OHD wiggles about* :D You're very welcome! That bottle is cute, its what made me want it in the first place! Figured I'd fill it up with water once I'm done with the juice...I just can't throw it away. It comes in five flavors, but the store I was in only had Cherry and Blueberry. I want to try the Mango...bet that's yummy.

I have always walked by those lil cuite POM bottles lol
never knew what it was my sis made a had to mix with water
comment but from what you said doen't sound like you do.
Do you have calorie/fat content handy? Tammy

When I was little we had a pomergranate tree in our backyard. I used to eat it until I got sick of picking out the seeds, and peeling back the layers. They were yummy! My hands and even clothes sometimes used to be stained red. lol.

My aunt used to make pomergranate jam out of it too.

Anyway, I HAVE to try it. I'm sure one of those things every day, or every other day would be really good. I LOVE the bottle design. And too bad it doesn't come with a cape. lol. Oooh. Thanks for sharing!! :D

Love the taste ect of the fruit, never had the drink , but would buy it bottled over myself doing it anyday.... I hate all those little seedlings and then you get redish purple everywhere....just a big pain.
