1000 calories sounds pretty low to me. I would not actually cut calories as low as that if looking to lose weight.

Your BMI works out at 23 which is perfectly healthy. If you are uncomfortable with your figure - then the answer is more likely to lie in toning your muscles than in actually losing any weight at all.

I suspect that you may be better served by focusing on what the food consists of by way of protein etc - and I suspect that you will spend more than 1000 calories if you want to hit nutritional targets and enjoy a varied diet which includes food that you like. A food plan which cuts out the food that you enjoy is difficult to keep up over the long term. Meaningful results are best achieved with a plan that you can keep up over the long term - as a short term "diet" approach often brings weight loss followed by weight gain and a yo-yo effect... What you need is a long term lifestyle change...

Well done for starting to work out three days ago. This will be of great benefit to you. A mixture of both cardio and weights is a good idea - but you may want to do a higher proportion of weights for the improvement in toning that you are clearly looking for.

Are you a member of a gym? I am certainly not an expert when it comes to such things... Maybe gym staff could recommend exercises that would be more effective than 70 minutes of cardio every day. That will be good for your stamina and burn calories - but will not necessarily tone the muscles in the areas that you want to improve. I would keep doing some cardio - but maybe change the proportions...

You should certainly be able to make some noticeable improvements over the first 6 weeks if you eat healthily and exercise consistently over that time... Your friends should notice the difference when you see them again.
