please give me something besides squats..

i have what most would consider a "big" butt... i absolutely love my big butt though (as does my husband)... i dont want to lose my butt but i'd love to tighten it up. I do squats already (not with a bar but with a dumbbell)... i get kinda sick of them and i need another suggestion on some butt exercises to do.
 
Step ups with hip extension would be an alternate. I like this one :). If you have a stepper, step up with one leg, and then kick backwards with the other leg, keeping it straight and not leaning forward with your body. Otherwise a stool or the bottom step of the stairs works in place of a stepper. I alternate sides so I dont have to keep count of how many I do. Then, you still get some benefit of the squat too, with the step up.
 
Lunges are a good compound exercise for the lower body. It is commonly found in 'butt' workout because the length of the stride can be varied to emphasize the glutes and you don't need to carry as much weight to make it effective.

A little yoga perhaps?

There are a few yoga postures such as the Plank and one where you stretch out one arm and the opposite leg (cant remember the name off hand) and hold for as long as possible which really give my glutes a workout, let me tell ya. Look up some yoga positions and maybe those can add some simple butt tightening variety to your workout.

I do them all the time and my butt is awesome.... ;)

I'm pretty sure the Plank is just the pushup position. It's a basic pose that transitions to a lot of other poses.

Here's another really helpful website with a load of additional exercises, complete with full color video. I think it has the exercises that sirant mentioned as well.
 
Squats are ALWAYS in my routine. It is a core, fundamental movement IMO. Seldom, when I deload or back off the weight for a bit, I will throw in leg presses, but that is only temporary.

Try front squats. If you are bored with squats, up the degree of difficulty.
