hey guys!

I just found this forum online... and did not waste time joining in. I LOVE team work and I believe that I DO alot better with team work...or when I do something with others.

So here it is... I am aiming to lose 10 pounds. I am at 158 pounds and am planning to be 148 by the next mounth and a half. Or two months. I am in an OK shape... but this is what makes things tricky because the WEIGHT is NOT coming off ( and hence how I need your support).

This is what I am planning to do get to my goal by MID october (october 15th 2011)

- eat very healthy: good nutrient breakfast, lots of veggies at lunch, limit the carbs and sugar intake.

-eat about 1200 calories per day

-do the 30 day bikram yoga (started yesterday)

-eat REALLY REALLY REALLY light at night

if there is any of you out there that have good tips for me please let me know...ALSO anyone else aiming to lose 10 pound out here??? :) I WANT to know about youuuuuu!!! :)

Hello,

Good luck in losing those ten pounds - you're lucky it's such a small, achieveable goal! But then anything can be achieved with enough willpower :)

I'm also looking to lose ten pounds initially - I weigh 177 but looking to get down to 167 or even below. I suit being curvy but this is the biggest I've ever been!

Something I've started using is livestrong.com, the 'my plate' feature means you can track calories consumed and calories expended, with a weight loss goal of 2 pounds or 1 pound a week in mind... for the first time in my life I actually feel conscious of what I'm putting in my body what exercise I need as a result.

Best of luck and if you need support or a buddy I'm here! x

hi littlelady,

wow thank you so much fo your reply!! Yeah the these ten pounds seeem to be VERY stubborn... and hard to get rid of... I also keep track of my calories...but since i have had a weight lost of 30 pounds I am familiar with the tracking process...

I can deffinitly use ur support in this my skinny jeans are not fitting me anymore and shopping is not as fun, but I am determined to change that. i also think that when you are trying to lose the 'last' ten pound your body becomes more resistant to you... :( what do you think?

So are you right now losing 2 pounds a week? We should deffinitly do this together, when you your goal date?? :)

Goodluck in loosing those 10 pounds. I know you can do it, i have to lose less than 100 pounds and the road is a very very long one. Keep posting updates in your diary everyday. IT REALLY HELPS!! Best of luck dear

When you are working out, you're burning calories. If you are breaking a sweat you definitly are. Maybe you need to take in more calories. If you don't get enough, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto fat instead of burning it. Try to have 6 small meals a day. Adjust calories up for workout and make sure you are getting some protein. Keep up the good work!

Firstly its helpful for us to know how tall you are as well as how much you weigh.

I think that 1200 is an arbitrary amount of calories which may not be ideal for you. You need to match your calories with your calorie output or exercise and basic metabolism. So for that i recommend calculating your maintenance calories and then taking off a certain amount that will enable you to lose about 2 pounds per week. There are online calculators that can help you do this easily. The thing is if you are eating 1200 it may be too low for you and it may have slowed down your metabolism. ITs better to keep it high by eating enough.

I am familiar with some forms of yoga. Not bikram. If its energetic its gotta be a good workout. If its about 1.5 hours then that's even better. I think yoga is a great form of exercise in general as it works all parts of your body. Will it involve muscle building. Muscle building helps increase metabolism. But bear in mind that if you are muscle building, you will lose fat but the weight loss on the scale will be less apparent at speed so you have to be a bit patient in that regard. But its worth building muscle because you end up looking so much better by the time you do reach your goal.

Careful with restricting carbohydrates. Keep eating complex carbs as these are an important source of energy. That is the function of carbs in fact - to provide energy and carbs do it more efficiently than any other macro nutrient such as protein or fat. However, yeah avoid refined carbohydrates and artificially sweetened foods. Fruit is great on the other hand.

I find it easiest to eat all my meals about the same size. But i eat my meals fairly close together and avoid eating after dinner which i eat fairly early also. I have found going to bed early also helps. And i've noticed that if i stay up late, i will inevitably get hungry late at night and need another meal.

Good luck. You've got a very achievable goal so long as you stick to the program.

hey guys,

wow... I am so humbled to see all your feedbacks! thank you very much for responding... Fortyfour ; I am about 5'9 and yes I am deffinitly starting to think I am not getting enough calories. But based on what I have research in order to lose about 2 pounds per week no one should take more than 1500 calories. I used to be on jenny craig and if my activity level was at 3 times a day to the gym they would allow a 1500 calories....and I lost 25 pounds with them... so im not sure if i want to consum more than 1500...what do u think?

Also I am thinking of starting to eat a protein bar every morning. I will keep you guys on my weight update at the end of this week.

what I read was great about taking in more calories... SO please let me know if you know of any other feedbacks.

Also - YES bikram yoga is totally muscle build... I am starting to see the difference.. I missed yoga today but am going to keep going from tomorroW
