I'm 25, 5'3, about 190 and want to lose about 50 pounds. I don't want to follow a program, i would like to do it the old exercise, watch what you eat way. I just get so confused with calories. Say I work out and burn about 280-300 calories, how much should i consume that day??? If I take a day off from exercise, how much should I consume then??? Could someone please help me!!! I don't want to work my butt off and eat too much or not enough and see no results. Thanks in advance!!!!!

I'd try to go about this with the least amount of fanaticism as possible wrt to calorie counting. You don't want to be calculating every bit of activity you do unless you have to.

For starters, I'd simply assume 15 calories per pound of body weight is your maintenance.

From there, take 20-30% off and that's what you should eat each day. If you are consistent with this, and still not realizing appropriate losses, then you can start worrying about workout day intakes opposed to non-workout day intakes and the like.
