Hi all - haven't been on for a couple months but have been reading some posts today. My personal weight training and weight loss program continues but I wanted to mention something I think is constantly forgotten as I read many posts.
This training and weight loss is 1) a change of lifestyle - NOT a "diet" or short term program. 2) it TAKES TIME. I see/read posts from people who have been training for 2 weeks to a couple of months and their expectations far exceed what the reality is.
Now I am FAAAR from an expert on the subject but have done MUCH researching and questioning those WITH experience. What I come away with is this - if you're doing it the natural, healthy way (not doing steroids or the like) then it's gonna take time. And if it's a change of lifestyle, what's the rush, huh?
I see (mostly young guys) in the gym pushing WAY too much weight for their size and/or for how long they've been lifting. They want a fast result. Their sense, commitment (long term) and health come in to question in my mind.
I have a hard time with the patience as well but I'm almost 40 so it comes a bit easier for me.
Just my opinion. Get informed, do it smart and hang in there everyone.
