Past Problems Coming Back, Please Help

Hi,

Over the past 3 years I've lost a total of 60 pounds and then gained it all back plus more. I need serious help. I have to find a way to kick start my healthy eating and exercising again. I'm going to graduate in 2 months and I want to receive my diploma feeling confident in myself. There's no way I can walk on the stage feeling like this let alone move out and go to college in Minnesota. This weight gain is really starting to depress me and all I want is to be healthy again. Please I am being you as an over weight young adult for your help. I need a change, I need to become myself, and I need advice. Anything will help!

Thanks,
Kiah

Welcome to the forum.

First of all you have to believe that you can do this... You have done it before so you can do it again.

The fact that you have done it before means that you have a good idea about what you have to do... You need to eat healthily and exercise more... You probably have a good idea what it entails... there is plenty of information in the nutrition and exercise sections...

The big thing is that you need the support network so that you keep on doing it and do not give in at the first hurdle and you need to accept that it is a lifelong lifestyle change - not a diet with an end date... if you think of it having an end date you stop being mindful and that is when you will gain weight again...

You need to make friends here by building that support network. I suggest that you read the following link as it may help

Good luck.

Thank you so much! I will definitely explore the site some more. I'm just really having trouble getting that kick start I got the first time.

Kiah, the best motivation for me was from the health standpoint. Once I learned about all the risks being overweight poses besides putting lots of stress on the skeleton, and especially the dangers of internal visceral fat. Google overweight health risks and visceral fat. You're young, now's the time to start taking care of the body so you can age without compounding problems.

Maybe the idea of looking great on all those graduation photos might do the trick...

I was A LOT bigger (and older) than you are - and it actually wasnt a motivator for me - but I was immensely grateful what I realised that my enormous double chin had disappeared the week before my school reunion... It was a pure coincidence - but the notion that all the people that I had been to school with didnt realise that I had (until that year) been 100 pounds heavier and had an enormous double chin thrilled me and I was much happier with all the photos... The fact that I was still "obese" didnt matter at all...
