Passing Out Post Workout

I have been involved in the fitness world for most of my life, albeit off and on. I guess you could say I am a sufferer of yo-yo health. I am about 25kg off my ideal weight and despite numerous efforts to lose the weight, stay healthy, and keep it off - here I am once again trying. I like to think, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Anyway, I recently started back to the gym with a circuit program I put together. I alternate between cardio and light weights for 30 minutes. I admit it is the first workout that has made me really feel truly exhausted at the end - but in a good way.

I complete my workouts at lunch time every other day. On the days inbetween I do moderate cardio and stretching and then I attend martial arts class three nights a week. I eat on average 5-7 meals a day and I am always drinking water. Admittedly I cannot profess to hit my 8 glasses every day and sometimes I far exceed that recommendation - you could say it is inconsistent.

My issue is this. Following my workout I feel great. I have a double protein shake with a little creatine for my post workout meal and then usually eat again a couple of hours later. However, I am interminttantly fighting the feeling of passing out or extreme exhaustion. If I sit down I really don't want to get up and wish I could just put my head down for a quick 20-30min nap. Unfortunately I can't sleep at work.

I have never experienced this feeling of exhaustion, especially hours after my workout. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start modifying my fitness approach?

Are you getting enough sleep each night? How many hours do you average?

The quantity of the protein you take PW could be causing you to feel tired. I used to be very tired when I was taking GNC Whey Protein similar to what you are saying about want to take a nap.

Its unfortunately an uphill battle to get in shape, especially when starting off. Your body is not used to being worked, its not used to the required efforts and its not used to the recovery requirements. Keep at it though! Things get easier as you go along. When I started at the gym I would come home exhausted and would just veg in a chair the rest of the evening but as I kept at it I felt less tired and last night I couldn't even get to bed after a 6 PM workout.
