Painful shoulder

I was doing reverse flyes earlier today and I noticed a clicking in my shoulder. By the second set, it had actually started to hurt a bit. I couldn't emulate it unless I was holding a weight but, I'm a little concerned. The clicking seemed to be located towards the rear of the socket.

I know its almost impossible to diagnose anything on the internet but, if anyone has any ideas/advice, I'd be grateful.

Once in a blue moon i will be workig out and i got a popping and clicking going on, it wasn't painful to the point of tears but it did hurt and made me nervous enough about future injury to stop. I did some research and talked to a trainer i know and unless its a continued pain or occurs everytime you work out chances are its just rotator cuff wear or a slight instablity of the shoulder. Best thing to do is just not work it for two days, shouldn't really need more than that. Some think joint suppliments works, some don't, but thats always something to look into as well. Also just a good ole bath with epsom salt soak does nice.

Sometimes you can just turn the wrong way with to much strain and just mess it up a little.

However if it continues or if pain increases while not moving it you might want to get it looked at to make sure. I Have to watch mine a little closer as i use to play softball alot and the act of throwing the ball hard left me with slight shoulder issues. Nothing to major though just something i have to keep an eye on.

yeah like leip said i'm not an expert but experience has told me that time off is the best you can do for this sorta thing and if it continues see a doctor. I have fkt up shoulders myself especially my left one and "tough it out" for the last few weeks of training before i take a week off. It's good to go after that though, apart from those last few weeks like i said.

Thanks for the tips guys. The shoulder seems okay atm and, I won't be lifting for the next few days anyway so, hopefully I'll be back on track next week.

bad advice on everyone's part. It's like basically telling someone to "go to sleep and when you wake up everything will be better".

Take it from someone who had their shoulder scoped. See a physician and ask for recommended exercises to strengthen the rotator cuff and scapulae stabilizers. Saying just take a couple of dyas off is not enough...the problem will only manifest.

Thank you for putting up some sane advice!

I only posted what works for me.

it happend to me the exact thing, it hurts when u move ur arm around, in my case this was the 1st stage of tendinitis.
dont get worried by the name, what i did was rest for 1 week, applied ice to the shoulder joint 3 times a day 15mins for 1 week
try not to lift anything heavy
and after 1 week u will notice that the pain has gone

i may advise u to rub fresh raw potato on the shoulder joint , it helped me :D
cut the potato and make few slits in it so the juice can come out then rub it on to the joint, its the potato juice which u are looking for.

OOO YEA DONT FORGET TO STRENTHEN UR ROTATOR CUFF THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF WEBSITES WITH THIS INFO
GOOGLE IT

I've dislocated my right shoulder twice, and if the problem is serious, then yea, you're going to definitely need to work that rotator cuff. Once in awhile we get odds clicks, pops, and pains and I think that's relatively normal.

Well, I rested a week and tried the same excercise again but, failed on the first rep with a click and a sharp pain in my right shoulder. The excercise has now been scrapped!! I had intended to see someone about it but, in the interim, I tried a new excercise for the rear delts which doesn't hurt at all

Did 4 sets yesterday and I can feel it this morning (in a good way!). If I get any further problems though, I'll get myself down to the doc and get it checked out. Thanks again for all your tips.

You need to see someone ASAP; the problem is probabaly not with the movement but that you have injured yourself and you'll just be aggrivating hte issue.

the problem with shoulder injuries is there are a series of functional movement tests that need to be performed in person to fgure out what hte problem is.
