P90X and Diet Questions

Hello, I'm looking to lose weight and shape up my diet.

Would P90X suit me good for this? I currently weigh maybe 200 or something, 5'7" not in good shape.

Another question I have is, I don't like veggies except something like potatoes. Do I just drink a v8 drink with my meal or what?

How would I go about with my diet? (When do I eat, how many meals a day, etc..)

Fruits I like:
Oranges, Apples, Bananas, Strawberries, Pears..

Other things I like:
Potatoes, Chicken, Yogurt, Eggs, etc..

Just looking for a simple routine to get started, if anyone can help that'll be great.

Should I go with low calories, low carbs or what? How many a day? I'd like to know things like that, too.

Hi,

All of your questions are good ones....let me give you my humble opinion.

First, you say you want to lose weight and shape up your diet....P90x is a workout program that will help you get strong and once you gain some muscle, you will then lose weight. But, P90x is not a weight loss program.

If you want to gain muscle, then get the P90x, it is a great way to build strength.

If you want to lose weight, then focus on what you are eating, not how much exercise you are doing.

Now, you say you do not like veggies and I can understand that, so what you should do to get your vegetables, you can blend them into a delicious smoothie. I can take 5oz. of raw spinach, 1 banana, ground flax seed, frozen strawberries, a handful of raw oats, a sprinkle of cinnamon and one orange....blend this in a blender and it is sweet and delicious. And the great news is you cannot even taste the spinach. You get all the nutrients and none of the flavor that turns you away from veggies. Give it a try!

Here are my recommendations for what to eat and how often you sould eat.

Eat a large breakfast, a smaller lunch and an even smaller dinner. Think about this....you should load up on the nutrients at the start of your day, then your body can use them throughout your day. It makes no sense to eat a HUGE meal at the end of you day when you are just about to wind down for the day. Does it?

Also, the frequency of your eating is important. You never want to go more than 4 hours without eating something. When you fast for a long period of time, your body begins to store fat, then when you do eat, your insulin level spikes and your body becomes acidic, inflammation takes place and your body stores fat in your belly. All of this happens because there was absence of food for a long period of time. If you eat smaller meals, more frequently, you can maintain a blood sugar level that will allow your insulin to be regulated, more normal.

Eat raw veggies, berries, fruits, seeds.....stay away from meat, dairy, anything white foods. And you will save your life!!! Literally.

Thanks for letting me share my opinions.
