Opinions on a little over a year of hard work.

I wonder whether if you just stuck to the compounds, and kept 2-3 iso's and got rid of doing the other isolationals all in one session, whether you would have made the same gains
thoughts?

I'm not sure.. I don't think the extra isolation hurt though.. what do you think?

I am planning on adding a little bit of isolation in my routine, still hitting all of my compounds.

I am thinking I will take less breaks and try to fit in more lifts. It will be higher intensity, and i'll get more lifts in. I don't see how that could be bad.. as long as I don't work out for too long. I never go for more than an hour.

Just curious, your routine looks similar somewhat to mine but instead of doing all those exercises each session i have an A and B workout that is something like squats, row, weighted presses, pull ups, then 2-3 isos ( bicep curls, skull crushers, abs), and a B workout that is deadlift, military press, up right row, chins with the same Iso exercises. Curious to see whether if I did all those exercises in one session if i make better gains. Though I also wonder if you would make better gains if you split yours up into an A and B because doing squats, deadlifts, and the other compounds all in one session seems like a real drainer and you might have been able to do better if you did a A/B workou to dedicate more energy to each exercise

Just today I was thinking of splitting my workouts. How many times per week do you train?

I was thinking of training 4-5 times per week(either M-F or M-F with wednesday off) and doing an upper/lower split, so that I could get more isolation in and get more movements in for all of my muscle groups..

I'm still thinking about this though.. won't be implimenting that right away if I do at all.

I just do a full body workout 3x a week that goes like
M: A
Wed: B
Sat : A

Mon : B
Wed: A
Sat : B

I was thinking of starting to do a upper/lower split in a month or two as well, but i don't know how that is possible because most of my exercises are upper body..only lower exercises are squats, abs, deadlift?, and calve raises every now and then

How long were you doing your FBW routine? All 14 months where you just kept increasing weights and alternating reps and exercises?

There is lots of isolation that you can do for your legs as well. Could do some hamstring curls, leg raising machine (for quads), inner and outer thigh.. and plenty more.

And yeah, I was doing full body workouts the whole 14 months. I increased the weights a lot at the beginning when I was making big gains.. but eventually I couldn't raise the weights very often at all. My reps were pretty much constant the whole time. I've always went for 10 reps.

I workout at home, with only a barbell.
But yea, you should start switchin up your exercises a bit to hit your body with something new.

Today I listened to some of the advice given to me and lifted all my lifts heavy. I usually went for 8, then 6, then 4 reps increasing the weight each time.. Sometimes I finished off with 1 rep with a really big weight.

It felt incredible! I am really glad that someone mentioned this to me. I am going to keep doing this for a while... it's a really great feeling.

I can definitely feel it a lot more.

Plus I started using creatine today.. i'm really excited about all of this!

You know, I was looking at some other forums, and some body fat % visual guides.

The guys that are 9% body fat on there look much leaner than I do...

Do you guys think the skinfold tests are wrong??? What does my BF % look like to you guys?
