UPDATE 05/08/2011:

I missed my anniversary because I have had finals, have been moving, and a few other things but, as I promised I have taken new pictures. These are truly my BEFORE and AFTER. I have weighed in and I am now 125 pounds even, that means I have lost 46.4 pounds in one year and my body had changed drastically. :) I thank everyone who has followed me on my journey and I am so thankful for this forum!

So my one year weight loss anniversary is coming up on May 5th and man it has been one crazy year!

I am finally in the home stretch of my weight loss journey and I am going to be starting on a new journey and set of challenges (Toning and Maintenance), but I still have a little ways to go.

About a year ago I started off at 171.4 pounds, the heaviest I have EVER been. At 5'7" that was just totally unacceptable, and I has in the "overweight" category according to my BMI.

Almost a year ago I decided to change my life and I have managed to lose 45 pounds the right way!

To celebrate my one year I will post my before pictures at 171.4 and my "now" picture on May 5th! I am going to literally WORK MY ASS OFF everyday until then, and hope to have an amazing before and after for the world to see that it CAN BE DONE.

:) Thank you everyone who supported and believed in me! I promise in a months time when I update with my pictures you will NOT be disappointed!

You've made spectacular progress. The weight loss is only Step One, I suppose Step 2, keeping it off long term is a new challenge, one which I'm sure you'll succeed at too.

Way to go, shawnnam! :D

Congrats on your amazing accomplishments!

Looking forward to your updates :hurray:

Yes, many who have lost the weight have said maintenance is one of the hardest parts because you have to add calories to your diet and adjust your workouts, and it is the time when you start sayin "Ive made it" and slip back into bad habits. Also, when your losing weight you have an actual "goal" to work towards, which often keeps people motivated, but you don't have that with maintenance so it can be more of a challenge.

Thanks for the support :) I can't believe I finally made it to where I am and I am excited to reach my other fitness goals!

That is so awesome congratulations! I can't wait to see the pics. :D

You are a big inspiration thanks for keeping us updated with your amazing progress! :hurray:

I think you hit the nail on the head there. It's having a goal is so motivating. I'm in a similar position to you, I got down to my goal weight, or rather I got close enough that composition became more important. From there it's hard to have a specific goal.

I figured I'd set a new goal of 12% bodyfat (seeing abdominals) and pressing the 100lbs dumbbells. To achieve this I upped my protein to 200g+ daily and i'm consuming 2500-3000 cals whilst maintining weight. Hopefully I'll hit both goals late summer/fall.

Maybe that's why the last 10 lbs is the hardest, the goal is 'easy' so determination lessens. I know my last 10-15lbs took longer than the first 50lbs.

Good luck with your goals, I know you'll be able to maintain and keep looking sensational.

Congratulations Shawnna! You are such a good friend.

This is true. Once you hit your goal weight, sometimes people (me included) sometimes you aren't as strict with your eating. But Its important to eat junk if you want occassionally....too..

I had way too many calories today. But, I will do better tomorrow. Whenever I think of slipping back into old habits, I remind myself how far I've come, how I felt when I was fat and that I would do anything to not get back there. And it works.

Wow, you look incredible! Go girl!! I feel so motivated when I see this kind of results here.. :)

Congrats on your anniversary! You look great and I'm happy that you feel great!

Do you have any celebration plans now that you've reached this milestone? Spa treatment, new clothes...ANYTHING?!! You need to celebrate because hey! you said you just had finals so now you have two reasons to celebrate ^_^

Your transformation is one that I come back to when I need motivation so thank you for sharing with us!

I love the difference in facial expressions in the before and after shots. The before looks like embarrassment and disgust (and I know the feeling! hated taking the before pics). The after is such a huge smile. love it, congrats!

Congratulations Shawnnam! I'm proud of you! My weight loss anniversary is October... it will be 2 years since I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off. It turned out to be easier than I originally thought it would be! Good Going!
