On The Road to a New Me (Body Wise)

Hello Everyone, My name is Tony and I have been losing weight for 17 months now and have lost 120 pounds. (I was up to 130, but had a slight set back in June/July)

When I first started losing weight, I honestly did not believe I could do it on my own. I joined weight watchers (2-2006) with a couple of friends and we were each others support system. :jump: After my first month in weight watchers I was down 20 pounds (I was thinking I could avoid doing this, but I think it's important to know where I came from. My starting weight was 487  )

After that first month, I thought to myself I could really do this, it's not that hard counting points and after a while you just start to realize you know how many points things are, no need to break out your point calculator.

After a few months of losing weight, I decided it was time to join a gym. So in 5-2006 I joined Planet Fitness and was only doing about 30 minutes a day on the treadmill.

After a year of going to the gym, I have worked myself up to 1 hour on the eliptical, 30 minutes circuit training, 30 minute on the bike.

I am currently down to 367 pounds, but seem to be feeling like I can not keep going. I almost feel like I am a failure at this point, because I feel as though I should be losing more weight.

I know I am just feeling sorry for myself, I have had plenty of people tell me keep at it and the weight will start to come off again, however I feel like I have let myself down.

I guess I just need to some more support from folks that know what I am going through. Hopefully this is the place I will find it. :)

Welcome to the Forum, Tony!

Hey, do not feel like a failure. You lost 120pounds!!! That is a heck of a lot of weight, and a HUGE accomplishment (no pun intended). And you can continue to keep up the great work. You just have to stay focused, and don't let the bad days get to you. Don't worry about the 10lbs you gained back--you can lose it again in no time.

If you are looking for new ideas or more info, this is the place for it. There is a wealth of information here. I suggest you start at the stickies posted by Steve in the On-Topic section.

Best wishes, Tony--we're here for you!:hug2: :hug2: :hug2:

Oh, one other thing--I would increase the amount of strength training that you do at the gym. That will rev up your metabolism and help you lose weight faster. I think you'll have more success with free weights than machines, from what I've read on this forum. I would talk to a trainer at your gym to help you develop a free weight program.:)
