Ok, lets hear em, who practices what..

I'll be the one to get this ball rolling...

I practice JKA style shotokan karate. I've practiced for 1 year and 2 months, hold the rank of 6th kyu (testing in march for 5th kyu).

Cool, marital arts thread. I practiced Hapkido for 6 years and got my black belt, then moved on to Taekwondo which I have been doing for over 10 years, I am 3rd dan now. Competed in worlds in 1999 where I was given the name "Crazylegs" by my demo team coach.

alright man JKD is the **** well anyways I practice Tenchi Kenpo (Law of the Heaven and Earth Fist) I am currently 4th kyu (green belt 3rd degree) and let me tell you that I myself am hoping that after I get my black belt in tenchi kenpo I'll probably try out JKD but then again I'm still deciding cuz I've only been practicing this stuff for 1 year and 1 to 2 months. I do recall practicing Akido, Karate (not sure if was Shorin Ryu or Shotokon), and I think some Judo. but either way keep on keeping on as they say

Oh and Aevans you have the same last name as me just to let you know

first girl to enter ;) I practice Kyokushin-kai karate and I am currently a blue belt. Taking a break now, because college is taking up too much time and I'd rather quit for a while than making a fool of myself. Since I gotta teach the people with lower belts than me, I have to be the right example and with all those tests to study for, I can't be.

But I will be back;) When I didn't lack time, I also wanted to start Thai-boxing, but that was too far from home, so I had to let that slip. Good martial arts "schools" are very hard to find around my neighbourhood, since there are all too many who just wanna earn a buck and practically give you your belt (asl long as you keep paying them)

Anyway, here you have it: a girl on the forum who likes to kick ass ;) Wonder if there are any more around here

Chinese kung fu, been practicing on and off for about 4-5 years now. My story is long and aggrivating.

I love girls who love to kick ass, by the way.

sweet a martial arts forum. i practice Tai-Chi Chuan, it makes me complete. lol. btw my wrestling coach was harsh Tae Kwon Do, and if you ticked him off....it showed.

Let's see...
I started at 13 with a boxing club and continued there, off and on, until I was 17. I took a break from the martial arts for a couple of years due to personal issues.

I came back about 20 with fencing and then at 21 I traded in the fencing for Tae Kwon Do. At 22 I started training Hapkido...ended up getting my black in TKD at age 24 and my black in Hapkido at 26.

In between the ages of 21 and 28 (current age) I've had a sprinkling of Kendo, Kenjutsu, American Kenpo, Aikido, Kickboxing, BJJ, Judo, and Capoeira.

I currently train in MMA about once a week, Hapkido once every 2-3 weeks, and visit with my Kenpo and Kendo friends on occasion.

Im a black belt in Shi Zen, Wado ryu Karate, trained for 13years now.
won 2 competitions but decided I didnt like the sports side of the art.
I had my own class for 2years before I had a full time job.

Also done a mixture of kung fu, mainly sothern styles for 2years.

spent 3years a while back studying hap-ki-do and aikedo.

5years studiying a mix of escrima and kobudo

Got a few belts in Taekwondo (around the time I was in competition karate)

I dont go to the classes, but I train and go to seminars with friends in Ninjitsu, taichi (not tai chi chuan)

My original karate class was run by steve rowe, who you may know. He writes for traditinal karate magazine

My school is a branch from shi kon for which steve rowe is the founder.

Steve rowe got into taichi about 15years ago and went mad, he changed many many things in the traditional wada ryu system which my instructer (Steve Martin) did not like so Steve Martin started his own school.

As every knows, most karate systems originate in okinawa. Wada ryu was one of the later styles to develop. Interestingly, because of the shipping lanes between japan and china, wada ryu karate is almost identical to white crane kung fu. Wada ryu karate has its own twist, but the kata/forms are the same, the main diffrence is that the karate has more kata and a grading system.

I've been doing Muay Thai now for like 2 weeks. It's great. In the past I did Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan Karate.

I am a blue belt kickboxer.
Hate fighting ladies, much to flappy, but love a good bout with the men.
Am taking time off at the moment due to torn knee ligaments a few months ago doing a scorpion/suicide kick. Kick was great!! landing was pants unfortunatelly.

I practice Kamon Wing Chun. An interesting fact, Bruce lee started off with Wing chun. It is a martial art that is extremly simple yet so very effectice.

Hi everyone, I have practiced Iga Ninjitsu for 27 years, JKD for 23 years, and Mantis Kung Fu for about 15 years now, I have also had extensive study-practice in Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, and some Kendo, and Savat, all for about 3 years now, give or take. I am currently a private Instructor in Wausau, Wisconsin, I teach my friends, and their family in the Martial Arts, as well as Yoga, and physical fitness. As for the women that practice the Martial Arts, keep it up, and good luck with it, At home I have had to sometimes have it impressed upon my students, and others that a woman can be every bit as good as a man, so please dont let anyone discourage you from your current path.

Got to 4th gup in Moo Duk Kwon TKD before joining the Army. In the Army I got level 3 combatives cert and was an assistant instructor at the Ft Benning combatives school. Been looking for a good kung fu place around here, but its hard to find one in Maine without a lot of travel.

Where in Maine do you live? I don't know how far you are from CT, but I know a guy who knows a guy. Claims it's really good kung fu.

I split my time between Orono (northern maine) and Lewiston (southern maine)
