Alright folks....once again, I am thinking of changing my routine. I thought I had it figured out, but now I'm not so sure.

Here is my current thought:

one week, I do Elliptical for 30 mins - M,W,F and weights and then run T,TH
the next week, I run M,W,F and weights and then do machine T,TH and then I do week 1 the next week, followed by week 2 the next and so on.

Does this sound ok?

Also, I want a new weight routine as well. Anyone know how I can create one, or does anyone have one that works particularly well???

Thanks.

Are you still trying to lose fat or are you trying to gain muscle? And what is your caloric intake like these day?

Depends on your goals... If you are trying for muscle then cardio 5x a week will be bad... but if you want to just lose weight the cardio will work. However, cardio 5x a week may significantly reduce your weight lifting results unless you are getting tons of protein, since cardio tends to burn some muscle.

Hi Wendy!

I think machine means elliptical.

I know running is one of your goals. Make sure you are changing up your running to improve. A long slow run one day, faster run one day, easy run another, for example.

For your strength training you could just make adjustments to your exercises. For example you could do narrow stance squats instead of regular squats, sumo straight leg deadlifts instead of straight leg deads, arnold press instead of overhead DB press, etc.

Hope that helps!

Sarah

Thanks you guys. Yes, machine does mean elliptical.

I definitely want to lose weight. As of Friday, I was at 126 and I want to get at least to 120, perhaps below that. As far as caloric intake, I am still at 1500. Should I change that?

I was talking with someone last night and they suggested I do was many of the excercises on the stability ball as I can. Would that work? I have also started doing my ab tape again. God, I love that thing. LOL

Perhaps I should change my running a bit. Although I have to say, I kind of did that Friday. I did a short 15-20 min run faster than I normally would have.

I am up to 10# dumbbells...I know...I'm a wimp lol but how many reps and sets should I do for ea excercise? Should I do 3 sets of 15 perhaps? And how many excercises per muscle should I do? For ex. Should I do 2 excercises for shoulders, 2 for quads, 2 for biceps and so on??? Should I do more or less? Anyone??

A full-body 3x/wk would do wonders. In NROL, they stipulate the basic six as:

Squat
Lunge
Deadlift
Push
Pull
Twist

One exercise from each of these classifications, done for three sets would raise your metabolism up significantly.

Thanks! I will do some research and see what kind of routine I can come up with! :)

I am currently reading NROL and, like everyone else, I recommend it.

I love the way he writes, and it's full of good info. I have read fitness books that will put you to sleep, but this one is an easy read.

Ok then I will keep an eye out for it.
