Oh My Aching Feet - Need Some Help!

Hi All,

My wife and I run a lot of 10ks but I am having a really bad problem with the balls of my feet.

I used to have orthotics but they wore out and I cannot afford them.

I saw something in the Costco in Mountain View, CA several months ago but now it is not there.

It was OrthoFit or something like that.. They were for active people and they were supposed to be a rigid orthotic, which is what I had gotten from my Dr. many years ago.

Does Anyone know of this product or where I can find it. It is not in that Costco any longer.

Thanks,
Barry

I was just a great deal on the same insoles from Costco in Concord CA.... they are from ortherafit. They are $29.99 for a pair (plus a bonus pair.... so, really 2 pairs for only $30.) They are exactly like the pair of orthotics I purchased from a doctor sokaloff in San Ramon several years ago.... They were crazy expensive at the doctors office... I paid more then $300 and believe me - as much as I loved my orthotics I would never go back to his office... What a rip-off when I know I can now get the same orthotics for only $30!!!

If the pain is due to being on your feet running all day, you couyld try lymphatic drainage, the pain could be partially due to water retention.
Lie with your legs and feet pointing upwards against a wall, back and neck on the floor (bottom pushed up to where the wall meets the floor). Stay like this for 20-30 mins to drain your ankles and this should relieve the pressure in your feet, have you feeling much better.
If you find your legs keep falling/sliding down the wall, tie your ankles together (though not tightly) the idea is to keep them perfectly upright and to be resting (not shoving them to the wall with tension).

Works for me anyway!

Thanks All

Hey all.. Thanks for the quick responses.

So, a friend of mine who suffers from the same pain said that he was diagnosed with Metatarsalgia.

YUCK.. That just does not sound like it can be good at all.

I have made an appointment to talk to my doctor.

In the meantime, I did make it to San Fransico this weekend and both my wife and I got pairs. They really do look well made. We will see. I am wearing them now and I have to say, my feet feel much more supported. I wanted to break them in a bit but I will do some small runs this week to see if they help.

29.99 is a great deal though. I have spent hundreds of dollars on Dr. Scholls, and the like.

See ya on the Road!

Hey- I just bought a pair in San Fran and went for a run last night. I LOVE them! My knee normally hurts during mile 3 but no pain last night...I'm a believer! I'm getting these orthotics for everyone in my family for Christmas.
