Sport Odd question.. steel cut oats

Sport Fitness
Does anyone know the shelf life of these bad boys? Do they go stale?

I found a container full of steel cut oats that somehow got lost at the very back of my pantry. It must be at least 1-2 years old. I completely forgot I had them. I think I'm going to cook some up later today and see if they still taste good... they smell normal. :confused4:

If I never come back... that means they went bad. :p

they will go stale, yes. give them a taste test, but at 1-2 years old, if they were ever opened in the past they are prolly gonna be stale.

You have my condolences and also my best wishes in your efforts to survive these trying times. May your innards be always under the great hand of The Oak and thusly vouchsafed against all digestive harm by his fearsome pumpitude.

Update: Well, I'm alive :)

They tasted pretty much the same as fresh ones do. To be honest I dislike them to begin with so I probably couldn't notice the stale taste if there was one. :p

You are a brave lady. I still get the willies opening up old boxes of anything in the pantry. I remember opening an old box of dried cereal once and a bunch of little moths flew out.

in korea street vendors sell fried pupae as a snack

Eating tacos at taco bell is tasty too.

But, I always wondered what happened to that.........uh....dog...in their commercial.

Let's hope.......they didn't run out of meat in these hard times.

:)

Best wishes

I'd eat the fried pupae in a heartbeat before I ate anything at Taco Bell. Seriously. My kids are not allowed to eat there or at McDonalds. People that bring their kids to these places once a week should be brought up on child endangerment charges. :violent:
