OCD & The Weight-Loss Journey

Hi everyone.

I'm Stacy.

I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder {OCD}

Does anyone else suffering from this or other disorders find it hard at times or even often to make time for eating and of course exercise?

With me, it mainly happens when I'm involved with a project/task/errand/cleaning{lol}/etc.

I say: "Stacy, your hungry - it's time to eat/fuel your body."

My mind/OCD: "Uhhh..NOPE..Don't think so. You need to finish what you have started. Once you're finished you can eat - rest - exercise.
You have to receive your accomplishment feeling and check your list off first."

I don't want this thread to turn into an excuse/crutch type thing. lol

It is so easy for our nature to reason ourselves right out of doing what's best.

I have tons of experience when it comes to this. :ack2:

Everyone has their bag of rocks to carry.
That does make it hard on us all, but if we try and take a few moments each day to polish those rocks, the journey can begin and be a lot smoother.

My bag of rocks?

Chemical Disorders - OCD - ADD - Panic Attacks
Those can make my bag heavy at times and I want to give up.

Emotional Garbage - I gotta get that stuff to the dump.

It's Too Hard...{More Reasoning}

Man, this type of journey means hard work - time - discipline - organizing - planning - and commitment!

My new outlook is like this:

Yes, the above things are going to be tough sometimes.

My bag of rocks will be heavy and I'm going to feel like the journey is too long and hard to want/mess with.

BUT, if I stick it out and keep going; I will see the rocks in a new way.
Before long they will be polished.
At the END of the journey I'll no longer have rocks;
I'll have Gem Stones!

One tip I'd like to hear thoughts on is how to make yourself "stop" what you are doing and make the time to eat.

I did put myself on a timer once and when it rang it was time to eat.

That didn't last long bc I cheated and would re-set the timer! :smilielol5:

It may work for others though. :)

Sorry, I have nothing! I do not usually have to tell myself to eat. I have to tear myself away from food kicking and screaming!
