I don't hardly touch 'instant' oatmeal unless I'm in dire need of 'decent' carbs for a meal.
Old fashioned oats are much better, and steel cut even a little better than old fahsioned.
for one, instant oatmeal turns to paste. whole oats don't. they digest a little slower, have a minutely lower Glycemic index, but most importantly have NO ADDED SUGARS.
I use old fahsioned oats from Quaker, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a packet of splenda.
If I need more fat in the day's diet, I'll add a tablespoon of natural peanut butter (crunchy style) and that really adds flavor since its a fat, and fats enhance flavor.
