Nutrition Question

Hey everyone,

Trying to tweak my diet up a little bit.. I know boneless skinless chicken is good, and potatoes.. i was wondering if you guys try to avoid sour cream/butter on a baked potato.. also any alternatives. Thanks!

Matt

Butter buds, or a similar product. Next to zero calories (and they are carb calories anyhow).
I often do a super quick spray of PAM, then sprinkly on the butter buds. then I have the liquid consistency of melted butter, plus the taste, but minus the saturated fat.

Butter buds or I can't belive it's not butter on my potatoes... Every once in awhile, I'll put ff cheese on steamed hashbrowns...

I tend to avoid stuff like margarine or I can't believe its not butter...in the past these were all loaded with trans-fats...I'd rather use a little real butter and brush of a little saturated fat than take in more trans-fats and think I'm somehow eating healthier.
Most of them have gone away from trans-fats. In these situations, I'd go for an olive oil based spread, so that you actually get some healthy mono-unsaturated fats when you crave 'real' butter instead of a powdered butter flavor (which, honestly, isn't bad tasting at all).

Look for a product called Smart Balance.

No trans fats. Cooks well too.

But if you really want to tweak your diet. Drop the white potato. It is high on the glycemic index and does not provide as much nutrition as other options.

Sweet potato is a much better choice, as well as, brocolli, spinach, green leafy lettace and some others.

Good luck.

white potatoes are bad for a post workout meal, where you want to spike insulin
but yes I'd agree for other meals, a sweet potato is better
