numbers sound accurate

hey everyone just wondering if you think these "calories burned" numbers sound correct on the tredmill. I'm 5'10, 5'11 about 165 pounds.

I start with a 5 minute jog at 5mph. After that i alternate minutes between running at 8mph for a minute than down to 5mph for a minute than back up to 8....and so on. The last 2 minutes i jog again at 5mph. I do this all for a total of 30 minutes.

The tredmill says i burn about 500-550 calories on this run do you all think that sounds close to correct...i feel that it's not correct and to many even tho i wish it was that many

Yea that sounds about right. If you can input your weight, then it's fairly accurate. However, there will always be some degree of error since it's not measuring how hard you're working, etc.

Therefore, the best way to know if you're getting a workout is by your heart rate. If you hit your heart rate for at least 20 minutes, you got your full day work out on cardio. If you're not hitting your target heart rate, then you can burn 1000 billion cals and it wouldn't really matter.
