Hi, so I'm trying to lose weight. Not much, just trying to tighten up my body. I'm a girl btw.
So I kind of started today and I ate healthy the whole day, I didn't eat a single bad thing and I exercised, but I weigh more than I did in the morning. :(
(It's late in the evening here right now). Can someone explain that to me? I wouldn't know what I did wrong.

Hello, and welcome to the forums! :waving:

As far as i know, you can't accurately measure your weight on a daily basis. I would suggest trying on a week.

Now, for the variations on weight like that, they are most likely water. (or at least thats what most people say.)

I'm no expert, but maybe someone here can serve you better.

Good luck!

The food you eat and the things you drink also weigh you down. I suggest only weighing yourself once a week, always at the same time, naked and after you've been to the toilet.

Also, don't expect to see results after only one day of eating less. If it was that easy to lose weight, we'd all be fitness models. ;)

I weigh myself in the mornings and know that if I'm at a doctors appointment or something in an afternoon that I will be slightly heavier than my scales at home said.
One day is also very short, start a goal and work towards it. It won't happen in a day or two but over time your goals will be reached if you stick to it :)

I weigh myself everyday and put it on a chart. I do it every morning after going to the toilet at approximately the same time each morning for accuracy. I have seen my weight fluctuate by as much as 5 Lbs from one day to the next depending on how much water, alcohol, meat, fibre I have consumed. What you want to look for is the overall trend rather than your daily weight.

^^ I agree.
I also weigh myself daily but accept the fact that I can fluctuate by half a kg to one kg from day to day and generally look at the weekly results.
I do it daily I guess to keep me focused on healthy eating.
Weighing daily works for some and weekly works better for others.

You have to weigh at the same time each day because everyone's body goes up and down all day long as the day progresses... We do not permanently have the same weight all the time unless we have burnt some fat to "lose weight".

Some people weigh once a week and some people weigh every day... Lots of experts suggest weekly weighing to stop people from worrying too much about day to day fluctuations that everyone sees... Having said that - a lot of successful weight losers feel happiest about weighing every day...

I do know that in my big project - weighing every day encouraged me to stay on track and gave me a better understanding of how my weight changes... Like many people - I like the notion of weighing every day and believe that I would never have developed the weight problem that I used to have if I had always weighed every day... If you are weighing weekly and miss a few you can gain a lot of weight... if you miss a few days you face up to reality much earlier...

However often you choose to weigh - it is best to do so under the same circumstances... Lots of people choose first thing in the morning after the first trip to the toilet of the day... Naked, with the scales positioned at the same place...

Things that can alter your weight include

  • the weight of the food and drink
  • toilet habits
  • water retention due to sodium... if you have more than 2300mg sodium in a day (which is easily done) the chances are that you will retain water... if you have done this - flush it out by being careful about your sodium and drinking lots of water
  • water retention due to drinking insufficient water - drink 1 ounce water for every 2 pounds that you weigh...
  • water retention due to TOM (Time of Month)... A lot of women gain weight due to water retention around the time of their period... Keep a track of your monthly cycle and keep it in mind when looking at your weight...
  • water retention due to heat - people sometimes see their ankles get swollen in the heat... that is water retention and it has weight...

Nice to hear your workout and don't get disappointed. Please take care of your self and observe that by which food you are gaining weight and stop that. All foods does not suits our body for example for me deep oil fries are not suitable pimples will come and I gain weight immediately. For my sister rice will not suits so she takes in less amount.
