Not losing weight after 2 months

So for the past 9 months I have been off and on with exercising and trying to watch what I eat. My weakness was alcohol. I would drink/fight not to drink every night. However, the past 2 months I have been really working on it and haven't been drinking. If I have a slip up (3 nights so far in the past 2 months) I'm right back on track trying to lost the weight the next day.

I work an office type job so I am sitting most of my day (can't really help that). I exercise 5-6 days a week. I'm either on my stationary bike (resistance 6-9) for 30-45 minutes. Somedays I will do weight training (5-10 pounds) for 20-30 minutes and 20-30 minutes on the bike. Sometimes I will do cardio exercises or plyometrics type exercises (30-45 minutes) that are on the Internet or exercise videos.

I eat 1400-1600 calories depending on exercise. I use the LoseIt app to track my food.

I am 5'6 and weigh 200 pounds.

I have not lost any weight. I got to 199.4 pounds and the next day went right back to 200. I have not lost any inches. My clothes do not fit any different on me.

Whenever I look up "not losing weight with diet and exercise", I just read articles about people hitting a plateau after going through a period where the weight was just "dripping off" and now they're stuck. Not the case at all with me.

I'd think just stopping drinking 400+ excess calories every night and doing any bit of exercise after being pretty much sedentary for the past 3 years something would happen to my weight.

I was always fat growing up but once I stopped sitting all day long in school I dropped to around 160 when I was 19 not really trying. I started exercising and eating better after that (didn't track my calorie intake) and got down to 130. And that process was a breeze! I just exercised everyday, ate and had no problems!

After starting a full time job (40 hrs a week) and not moving around nearly as much as before the pounds just kept packing on fast.

I'm at a loss as to what to do to get my body to start changing again. I'm obviously going to stick with what I am doing right now because I do want to be healthier, but it's very discouraging that nothing is happening obviously. Any suggestions, tips, etc. are extremely welcome.

TL;DR: Exercising & eating healthy, not losing any weight/inches. Help!

Hi himiwari, & welcome to the forum. I'm sorry but I can't think of anything except persevering. Hopefully, someone else will have some ideas. The only thing I could think of is adding some high-intensity training to your mix. Maybe see your doctor & have your thyroid checked. Whatever you do, don't give up. Kudos to you for giving up alcohol if you knew it was a problem. That takes strength of character. I do Intermittent fasting(5:2) but it would not suit everybody. It may just shake things up for you. I think I would see a doctor before starting anything though, just to make sure everything is ok. All the best, Cate.

Hello Himiwari and another welcome! I second Cate in... everything? Yep, everything. Congratulations on successfully taking an important step for your health, by the way. Seeing a doctor sounds like a great thing, but before you do maybe keep a detailed food diary for about two weeks (exact amounts, sorts of foods and calories consumed) and your weight at the beginning and end. Just in case your doc has a general "you´re probably just picking at little bits an pieces over the day and overeating withouth realizing" attitude.
Good luck!

Well NSC Clinics, I don't know if you mean well or you're just a spammy spammer but I reported you for posting a link as a new member. Other than that I think it's offensive to give a standardized list of tips to someone you don't know without checking what they wrote first. Himawari explicitly states they're already doing the things you mention.

Thanks Cate! Wishing things were just simple, but going to see a doctor is probably best. :)

Thanks for the advice LaMaria! :)
