Not going it alone for the next 20 pounds!

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I haven't been "thin" since I was about 6. I've always been the "chubby girl". When I reached 18 (5 years ago) I did manage to get my weight under a control to a point. I walked around at 140, not excessively unhealthy but not comfortable in my own skin either. I worked a desk job for a while and creeped back up to 150. When I got pregnant in 2011, I was put on bed rest just over halfway through. I continued to eat what I wanted and gained 49 pounds. One month postpartum I weighed 180. I got a spring in my step last year and lost 20 pounds (to 160) until I ran into some severe and sudden intestinal pain. I lived with that for a month while doctors tried to figure out what was up. Turns out my gallbladder just...stopped working. No reasons why. No gallstones. Anyhow, after having that taken out, it took several more months for me to get the ball rolling again. Come December 31, I was 164 and fed up with feeling like I was waiting to start my life. I have a horrible habit of doing that. Being overweight should be no excuse for not living your life. I can easily preach that to others, I'm just much harder on myself. The last 3 months, I lost 30 pounds. I do not count calories but eat mindfully and I do cardio (usually my treadmill) about 4-6 days a week. I currently weigh 134. On my 5'4ish frame it's definitely not the end. My original goal was 120, but seeing how much body fat I am still able to grab, I believe it will be more than a 15 pound journey left. Also, having a baby left me with a yucky belly pouch I don't think weight loss will help. I will say, it never feels like enough. I do feel "better", but not drastically so. It does feel good to be able to wear cute clothing again, not all stretch pants (due to my refusing to buy larger clothing). I will post pictures in the appropriate thread.

Would be great to go at the next 20 pounds or so with others!

Welcome to the forum.

I suspect that part of the improvement that you seek will come from exercise and toning... Cardio is good (I do a heck of a lot of cardio myself) but am the first to admit that you get toning from ST which you do not get from cardio... I suspect that you would get some benefit from going to a gym or maybe doing such as pilates...

I strongly suggest that you check out the exercise section.

I also suggest that this thread may help you to settle in too

Good luck.
