Not gaining enough (aesthetically)..

I've been working out for over a year now and I've made substantial gains in strength but I feel as if I'm not gaining aesthetically/appearance wise. I would say I'm pretty strong and it bugs me that I see guys in the gym that are much bigger and look better physically than me and yet they can't do the same weights I can do. Some of my friends are pretty built and cut and I know they don't eat a strict diet and eat whatever they want and still maintain a great physique. Then again, being strong is always a plus but I can't but help feel a bit discouraged that I'm not looking as strong as I am. I'm about 5'8" 153lbs. I'm currently working out 3 days a week and 2 of those days are for the "Twelve weeks to super strength (chest and back)" routine from T-nation which I did before and gained about 40 pounds on my bench, and the other day is for totalbody/legs like squats and etc. Thanks in advance.

Well if your looking for size then you dont want to follow a strength training program.

Use the same exercises but change weekly from 5sets of 5 reps, 3/12, 6/3, are you eating enough?

as chuck said.strength doesnt relate to size do fullbody 3x a wk change rep ranges from 15s 10s 5s

likely you're not eating enough to bulk up, and your reps are probably a little too low for optimal hypertrophy, which is what incites muscles to 'bulk' IF there is sufficient food intake.

no amount of training will make you big if you don't eat to be big.
