Not all that large, but definitely in charge! (Jean's new diary)

I've been a part of this forum since early 2008, and I really believe that this site has helped me lose my 70 pounds. I had a diary a long time ago, but when I reached my goal, I quit making entries. Now, I'm back with a new goal, and I'm making a new diary!

As we all know, Summer is quickly approaching, and I'm not exactly in bikini shape. My goal is to lose another 10-15 pounds, and get toned up by the end of July. I'll be going on vacation in Myrtle Beach later this year, and I want to be able to wear a bikini while I'm out there! I know I can do it. :)

Wearing a bikini is something I've never been able to do. I've always had something skirted, or a once piece. Well, not anymore. It's time to get in shape!

I'll be eating 1,200-1,400 calories a day. Lot's and lot's of fruit, and lot's and lot's of protein. I'll also be using Jillian's 30-day shred, as well as other videos. I'll still be using my stationary bike, though. Basically, I'll be exercising a WHOLE lot. :)

I'll be making entries at least once a week. I could end up making entries everyday, though! Who knows. :)

I'll be back to make my first entry. Yay, I'm so excited! :)

Hello lykewoahxjean,

Congratulations on the 70 lbs Drop!!!
Welcome back to the diary part again. ;) I know you can do it too!!

I like the name of your title & very nice avatar. :)

Our goals are similar, I need another 10-14 lbs to drop, and I want to tone. I don't know how to do that though. I am trying to eat 1400 cals/day as well. It may change, depends.

Take Care :seeya:

Thank you very much! :)

It seems like those last few pounds are the most difficult, but we can do it! :) 1,400 calories a day has worked really well for me. It's just enough to where I'm not hungry, yet, I'm not completely full. I'm satisfied, and that works for me.

Thanks for the response, and good luck! :D

Congrats on your big loss already! Great you are starting a new diary for this new goal of yours!

I haven't worn a bikini since I was 17 LOL still a long long long way to go for me!

Best wishes to you on this new quest!

I've been pretty overweight my whole life, so I haven't comfortable worn a bikini since I was 7. Ha ha. Hopefully I can change that. Thanks again, and good luck! :)

So, as of last Friday, I started back up at this thing. I've got a whole new approach, and I'm hoping to tone up by the end of the Summer. :)

I'm a little nervous, though. I won't lie. I've never done any kind of weight training, because up until this point, I haven't really thought it was necessary. I'm not exactly sure where to start, but I'll figure it out, I'm sure. :)

I just got through working out. I did 30 minutes on my stationary bike (as always), and a bit of muscle training. I have 2 sets of weights. 1 set of 5 pound weights, and 1 set of 10 pounds weights. I've also got a 10 pound medicine ball, and I tried to incorporate all of those things. I also did some different kinds of crunches, and leg exercises.

I also just ate one of the protein plus powerbars. It had like 23g of protein or something in it. I heard those are supposed to help with muscle growth, and fat burning. Believe it or not, I actually liked the taste. I'll probably go out and buy a whole bunch of them now. He he. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how often it's recommended to eat those things? Everyday, every other day? :)

Also, I should have some dvds coming on Wednesday. I got a few from The Biggest Loser set. I got like the cardio one and the power sculpt one. I'm not sure that I'll ever use them, but it was only 8 dollars. Lol. :p

Really, right now, I'm just trying to make it through this week. On Friday, my boyfriend's grandparents are having their wedding anniversary. There's going to be a lot of great food, and if I know my boyfriend's mother, she'll practically be stuffing food down my throat. Hopefully I can get away with eating a salad or something. I'd love to be able to eat, but my goals are way more important to me than a meal. Plus, I know I'd feel terrible for eating badly anyway. If I wasn't responsible for helping clean up after the party, I'd totally skip out on it. :p

Anyway, I'm going to go shower and get ready for work. I can't wait to make my next entry! :D

Uh, holy crap. I just popped one of my new Jillian Michaels dvds in. It was "No More Trouble Zones".

I got my ass handed to me. There were a few moves that I couldn't even complete, and I ended up having to pause it a few times. P:

My muscles are really sore right now, and I can feel how that workout touched every part of my body.

I'm going to do her "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism!" dvd tomorrow.

I'll probably alternate between the 2 for a while. I'm sure that I'll get stronger with time, and be able to get through he entire dvd without having to pause at all.

I sure hope so, anyway. P:

EDIT:

I decided to add some onto this entry. I was really worn out earlier, and I didn't feel much like typing. He he.

Anyway, I just got out of the shower, and my body is so tired. My shoulders are sore... my everything is sore.

It's a feeling that I've never really felt before. I feel like every part of my body got worked out, and I'm pretty sure that's just what happened.

Anyway, I'll be sure to make another entry tomorrow about Jillian's other dvd. :)

I've been cramming in the protein. My first 2 meals have been pretty simple. Cereal and yogurt, or a 100 calorie pack or something.

However, after my workouts I always eat a PowerBar and drink a big bottle of water.

Then, a little snack in between lunch and dinner. This is usually a Special K cereal bar or something, and then dinner is some form of meat.

Tonight, it's going to be plain chicken breast, and then tomorrow night it will either be leftover chicken, or lean hamburger meat. :)

I've got a pretty big night tomorrow night, though.

At 6 o'clock pm I'm expected to go to my boyfriend's grandparents' wedding anniversary.

My boyfriend's mom has been very against me losing weight from the beginning, and she's always trying to feed me.

I"m sure that it's just jealousy, but when you have a woman trying to force you to eat cake, it's kind of hard to ignore... especially since I would LOVE some cake right now.

Maybe I'll leave early. I'm just scared that she's going to be fixing me plates with tons of food, and my goal is to go to this thing and not eat anything.

It wouldn't be out of character for her to fix me a plate without me knowing it. And what would be on this plate? Cake, cupcakes, gumbo, rice... pretty much everything that I would love to have... but can't.

That's what I can't stand about dating a guy whose family isn't into health. They don't want anyone to be healthy. :/

Anyway, enough with my little rant. I'm going to go. I need to stretch my legs, and keep those muscles active. :)

Bye for now!

Oh my... God. I woke up this morning, and let me just tell you. I have never been this sore in my life.

I'm sore in muscles that I didn't even know existed.

My arms are sore, my legs are sore, my abs are sore, my butt is sore... my everything is sore.

I worked out with Jillian's "No More Trouble Zones" yesterday, and this is what I get... a really sore body. He he.

Honestly, though. I couldn't be any happier. I was able to work out my body in a way that I've never experienced.

I think if I pop that video in every 2 days, I'll start to feel more toned in no time.

Other than that, I'm just going to stick to the 30 minutes of cardio every single day.

I've still got some fat to lose, but at least now I know that I'll have some nice muscles by the time it all comes off. :)

So, to those of you who didn't think you could get a full body workout from a dvd... you can.

Man, I feel really great. :)

Anyway, I'm going to go eat a snack, and start preparing dinner for tonight.

I'm having plain chicken breast for dinner... which is actually really good. :)

So, until my next entry... bye! :)

I absolutely HATE that time of the month. You ladies know what I'm talking about.

I started feeling the effects of it on Friday, and God, is it awful.

I've been tired all the time, and of course I've been extra hungry.

I haven't cheated on my diet. Not once, which actually surprised me. Normally I would give in, but not this time. :)

Now that I've actually... ahem, started my time of the month, the cravings aren't so bad.

The cramps are awful, though... and I know I won't feel like going to work today.

6 hours of dealing with people who are about to eat a whole bunch of good food... not my idea of a good time.

Maybe I should start looking for a new job or something. I am trying to lose weight, and I'm working at an Outback Steakhouse. Ha ha.

Anyway, I just got through working out.

I got up at 5am, and did my 30 minutes on the stationary bike... then I went straight into my Jillian Michaels dvd.

And workout is pretty intense.

So, altogether, I worked out for an hour and 30 minutes.

I'll probably add in the video every 2 days. I guess it just depends.

I'm still a little sore from doing the video last Thursday, you see. He he.

Anyway, I'm going to go. I need to get a shower, and start getting ready for work. :)

Until next time~

Hi Jean

Great motivation there!!! I might have to go get a Jillian Michaels DVD, I like to have DVDs to exercise too for when I dont feel like leaving the house or am bored with the treadmill.

I can sympathize with you on the people who push food. My husband (before he started dieting) used to guilt me into eating..like "i cooked all this food and thats all you are going to eat", his sister will offer offer offer until I want to scream "what about me being on a diet do you NOT understand?" I know thats their way of being friendly or showing love but its rude in kind of a round about way. But if you are exercising hard like you are planning then a very very tiny sliver of something should be okay. Take the plate, have a tiny forkful of each and hand it to your man....

I am a bottomless pit if I am starting my period...I am only having about 2 to 3 a year in the past 2 years. Wierd as I am only 45 and really having no other symptoms I am going through the change. But when I am going to start its like I cant get full

Anyway bikini goal is a great goal...best of luck

Wow, that Jillian Michaels DVD sounds good! I was thinking of asking for a Jillian Michaels' game for my Nintendo Wii Fit for my birthday! I might just get it myself though if no one gets it for me. I think it's called Jillian Michaels' Bootcamp or something like that. There are similar games out there. I'm still thinking about it. Now, if only everyone would get out of the living room so I could actually *do* the games and stuff.. that seems to be the hard part!

Anyway good luck on reaching your goals!

I am also fighting for the last few pounds to come off... I find them harder because most days I actually like the person who looks back from the mirror enough to not be as motivated. Plus people around me have started saying I do not need to lose weight (well they always did... but now they are like "yeah you were pretty big back then").
At the same time, I see or feel my belly flab and I know I am not yet where I want to be, I am not finished with this. I want to feel amazing in a bikini. I wear mine, it looks fair enough, but I really want the belly gone and the upper thighs to be thin (to match the matchstick lower thighs!).
Hardest bits I guess, but we can do it!
Have a great week, Camy

I've tried all of her dvds, and I really love every single one. I'd definitely buy it.

They're great for when you feel like doing something different, and you don't even notice that they're an hour long.

And yes, people pushing food is downright annoying. My boyfriend's mom is the absolute worst, but she doesn't do it to show love... she does it because she doesn't want me to be thin!

When my boyfriend told her about my new goal, and about how I wanted to get into a bikini, she blew up.

The thing is, she knows I can do it, and she knows that if I put my mind to it, I will do it.

She doesn't want me to lose the weight, so she puts out all the food she can so that I can't help but eat.

Lately, I've just stayed away from her house. I think that may be best until she calms down a bit. P:

She's a great trainer. :)

I was never into the silly aerobic dancing dvds, and she stays as far away from that as possible.

She has a great style, and a lot of people claim to hate her attitude, but she really motivates me.

I haven't played the Wii game yet, but I'm dying to try it. :)

Hopefully it's as good as her dvds are!

I'm in the exact same boat as you.

People around me have been telling me that I'd look stupid if I lost anymore weight, and that I'm thin enough already.

It bothers me, because that's exactly what they used to say when I first started losing weight... and that was 70+ pounds ago.

Most of the time I like what I see, but I know that I'll never be comfortable on the beach until I have a lean body.

Good luck, and thanks for your response! :)

Wow. I did Jillian Michaels' other dvd, "Banish Fat and Boost Metabolism." for the first time today.

All I can say is... wow.

At first, I was a little worried that my heart rate wasn't going to go up, and that I wouldn't get a good workout.

Boy, was I wrong. Unlike The Biggest Loser's "Cardio Max", Jillian's dvd really delivered.

I was sweating like never before. Seriously, I have not gotten a workout like that in a very long time.

She also incorporated some strength moves into this dvd as well.

My abs feel nice and sore... which is just how I like them to feel. :)

Now that I've tried pretty much every dvd from my new collection, this is going to be my routine for a little while.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday:

30 minutes on the stationary bike, and Jillian's "No More Trouble Zones."

Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday:

Jillian's "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism."

Sunday:

Either take the day off, or get my boyfriend to go running with me. He claims that he needs to lose weight, and firm up, but he never works out with me!

So, I won't be exercising for less than an hour each day, and Sundays I can get some rest. :)

I really enjoy working out with the dvds. They're nice and long, but I don't really notice it... and I always get a great workout.

I'll probably stick with them for a while, and see if I get any of the results that Jillian Michaels promises. :)

Anyway, I've got to go and get ready for work. I've been on my feet all day, and now it's time to... be on my feet all night. Ha ha!

Until next time~ :D
